Who Are The Stars For The 2021 Lexus 'The Whole Package' Commercial?
Celebrities appearing in car commercials is a tradition that is decades old. From Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz showing up to promote Ford in the '50s, to Peter Stormare showing up in Volkswagen commercials and Matthew McConaughey being the focus of Lincoln ads, they have become a staple of advertising.
The 2021 Lexus "The Whole Package" commercial is no different in this regard. The commercial brings in one star to tout the design of the brand's IS 350 model, declaring "this is what excellence looks like, people." A second star praises the car's power and performance with "this is what exhilaration feels like." The two stars drive around a city's downtown as a voiceover declares that the car has style and performance "all in one package."
The primary question audiences had when watching the commercial was who the two stars were. While not household names, both performers are recognizable figures from a number of roles in both film and television. These are the stars who appeared in the 2021 Lexus "The Whole Package" commercial.
Trevor Jackson has been seen on both Syfy and Freeform
The first person who appears in the ad is Trevor Jackson. Jackson first rose to prominence in the Syfy TV series "Eureka," where he played Kevin Blake, the son of the main character Dr. Allison Blake, in Seasons 4 and 5. Jackson took over the role from Meshach Peters as a result of time travel shenanigans on the show. Jackson also appeared in Season 2 of the ABC anthology series "American Crime," where he played Kevin LaCroix, the captain of the basketball team at a private school, and in the 2018 film "Superfly." The movie, which was a remake of the 1972 feature of the same name, saw Jackson take on the lead role of Youngblood Priest, a drug kingpin in Atlanta caught in the middle of a gang war as he's trying to find a way out of his life of crime.
Jackson's biggest role to date, however, has been on the Freeform series "Grown-ish." The show, which is a spinoff of the ABC series "Black-ish," features the actor playing Aaron Jackson, a socially conscious student who attends Cal U, the same college as Zoey Johnson, played by Yara Shahidi. Jackson has been a main character on the show for the entirety of its three-season run and will continue to be in the series' upcoming fourth season.
Lovie Simone appeared in a 2020 horror remake
The second person viewers see in the Lexus ad is Lovie Simone. Simone's biggest role to date has been on the OWN series "Greenleaf," where she played Zora Greenleaf, the teenage daughter of Jacob and Kerissa Greenleaf, and granddaughter of James and Daisy Mae Greenleaf, the family at the center of the show. After playing a recurring character in Season 1, Simone became a series regular in Season 2, which is where she remained until the show's fifth and last season.
Simone also rose to prominence in 2020 thanks to two major film roles. Simone's first film appearance was in "Selah and the Spades," where she played the titular Selah, head of a faction at a boarding school who runs a clandestine drug operation behind the administration's back. Simone also appeared in "The Craft: Legacy," the remake/sequel to the 1996 film "The Craft," where she played Tabby, one-fourth of a quartet of budding witches who go up against a cult trying to steal their powers. Simone was also seen earlier this year in the Netflix fim "Monster."
Both performers are on their way to stardom, and their work in this Lexus ad is only further proof of their talents.
