Black Adam Just Hit A Huge Production Milestone
The age-old rivalry between Marvel and DC is ramping up to be stronger than ever, as live-action DC films continue to make waves in the entertainment industry. With the success of DC movies like "Aquaman" and "Wonder Woman" and the media frenzy around the James Gunn-led "The Suicide Squad," the minds behind the DCEU are proving that their franchise has plenty of gripping stories to tell.
The latest film in the DCEU is the highly-anticipated "Black Adam," starring Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson as the titular anti-hero/villain. Made famous from DC Comics, Black Adam is the companion-turned-arch nemesis of Shazam who decided to use his powers for evil. "Black Adam" is set to be a spin-off of the 2019 film "Shazam!" starring Zachary Levi, though the two foes have yet to appear in a film together. The excitement around "Black Adam" is palpable, especially once fans learned that The Rock is the most ripped he's ever been for his role as the complex character.
Though "Black Adam" doesn't premiere until July 29, 2022, fans just got an exciting update on the film's progress.
Black Adam is officially wrapped
According to ComicBook.com, production on "Black Adam" was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, much like several other films. Fortunately for fans, The Rock recently took to Instagram to finally share a lengthy, heartfelt caption and video announcing that filming is officially wrapped. "Honored and proud to say that's an official wrap on BLACK ADAM," The Rock wrote before revealing why "Black Adam" is such a huge deal for the seasoned actor.
"I knew many years ago, the opportunity for me to make BLACK ADAM would be a ONCE IN A CAREER EVENT. It has been my true honor to go shoulder to shoulder with over 1,000 brilliant and hungry crew of filmmakers and storytellers to bring the antihero known as, BLACK ADAM to life. This has been one for the ages and easily the hardest labor and toughest grind mentally and physically of my entire career. Worth. Every. Second."
In the video he shared with the announcement, The Rock further showed his appreciation for the cast and crew by giving away a cash prize totaling $10,000 to three winners. The excitement for the wrapping of "Black Adam" is palpable in the sweet video, and the future of the DCEU has many great things ahead.
