Here's How Twilight Fans Really Wanted The Saga To End

"The Twilight Saga" was a controversial property even before it was snapped up for production by Lionsgate Films. Whether you were "Team Edward" and were convinced that average teenager Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) was destined to end up in the icy, sparkly arms of Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) or you were "Team Jacob" and thought she belonged with the constantly shirtless werewolf shifter Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), you were bound to have some strong opinions about the way author Stephenie Meyer and Melissa Rosenberg (who scripted all five of the "Twilight" films) shaped the finished onscreen narrative.

But what would fans change about the movie series if they could wave their magic wand and make everything shiny and new and transmogrify it into the kind of series that they could really sink their teeth into without one single regret? Thanks to The Things, we have a pretty good idea of what they'd pick when it comes to the saga's ending.

Imprinting and missing origin stories rank high here

It's unsurprising that Jacob Black imprinting on Bella and Edward's daughter, Renesmee, when the girl was only a child — meaning that they are destined to be together romantically when the child becomes an adult –  comes near the top of the list of things fans would change about the film series, per The Things. After all, there's nothing more off-putting than realizing the only reason Jacob was attracted to Bella was that she was carrying a portion of Renesmee's DNA around with her.

Issues with the wish-fulfillment nature of the series crop up a few times; many wonder why Bella's parents aren't concerned about her marrying Edward straight out of high school, for instance. The fact that Bella names her daughter after her mother but spends little time with her throughout the film series is also a disappointment noted by fans of the saga.

Also high on the list are some major character deaths: Jasper Hale's and Carlisle Cullen's in the final battle of "Breaking Dawn Part 2." But fans are just as outraged that some of the main vampire characters never have their backgrounds explained. It just goes to show that you can't please everyone.
