The Ending Of Sky Rojo Season 2 Explained

From the creators of the hit Netflix Spanish-language series "Money Heist" comes another action-packed, crazy story called "Sky Rojo," about three sex workers named Gina (Yany Prado), Wendy (Lali Espósito), and Coral (Verónica Sánchez) who are on the run from their psychotic ex-pimp Romeo (Asier Etxeandia) and his two lackeys, brothers Moisés (Miguel Ángel Silvestre) and Christian (Enric Auquer).

At the end Season 1, the three women enact a plan to get their passports back from Romeo's club before taking off forever. But even after suffering a skull fracture and a heart attack, Romeo still doesn't die, and Coral has a soft spot for the man. Throughout the new second season, which premiered on Netflix on July 23, 2021, Coral, Gina, and Wendy continue their mission to escape and life a comfortable life elsewhere, but they need money first, and they have their sights set on all of Romeo's riches.

Season 2 of "Sky Rojo" has eight episodes showcasing more of the wild ride that is the journey of these three women, while Moisés and Christian's loyalties continue to shift as Romeo gets more desperate. If you've already finished bingeing all the new episodes and still have questions, here is the ending of "Sky Rojo" Season 2, explained.

Coral's drug problem is never-ending

In Season 2 of "Sky Rojo," a lot of the mistakes that Coral, the leader of sorts of the trio of women, makes stem from her drug addiction and inability to control herself. For example, the second season starts where the first season left off, with Romeo incapacitated and Coral successfully obtaining the passports and ready to go. Unfortunately, she does a line of cocaine before leaving, which leaves her distracted enough to be captured again at the club. This leads to Romeo capturing Wendy and Gina as well, and he attempts to bury them all in concrete. Obviously, that seems like the end of it for the women, but due to sheer luck and Moisés's emotions for Coral, they are freed and given a chance to escape.

In the Season 2 finale — an almost amped up replay of Season 1's ending — the women attempt to rob Romeo of all of his money, and they succeed. But during the robbery, Coral is forced to take Moisés hostage to ensure they get out. When everything seems to be going according to plan again, Coral takes cocaine the moment before she decides to kill Moisés. In her drug-addled state, Moisés is able to overpower her and literally knocks her eye out, and the other women must save her. While they are then able to get on the ferry and leave, Coral's weakness to drugs is bound to continue being a major problem for them in the future.

Moisés is all alone and living for vengeance

During the final robbery, Moisés's younger brother Christian is accidentally shot before the two are separated — with the women taking Moisés and Romeo taking Christian. Keeping Christian and torturing him for hours, Romeo then takes him to the site of the robbery, where Moisés arrives soon after. But for Christian, it's too late, as he has already bled out and died on the ground.

The second season shows Moisés and Christian trying to finally leave their violent lifestyle under Romeo's control to live a peaceful life with their sick mother. But Romeo is pathological and one step ahead, taking their mother hostage in order to ensure their loyalty. By the time Moisés loses his dear brother, Romeo has already revealed that he actually killed their mother and stored her body in a freezer, and now he essentially tortured Christian to death. But Romeo is smart, and he spins it so that it seems like Wendy, Gina, and Coral's fault instead.

While Moisés knows Romeo is crazy and sadistic, he also understands that he now has nothing, and if he tries to betray or go against Romeo one more time, his death is all but assured. With no one else to live for but himself, Moisés latches on to Romeo and his new thirst for vengeance, which will fuel everything he does going forward.

What's next for Wendy, Coral, and Gina?

Season 2 of "Sky Rojo" ends with Gina, Wendy, and Coral feeling victorious. They've just succeeded in robbing Romeo of over 4 million euros and are finally on a ferry out of there. The boat is heading to Madeira, a city that works as a free port for Romeo's business. While this means that the women can do a lot with their newfound money when they arrive, it also means that Romeo is very familiar with the location and likely has allies there who can go after the trio.

Still, the women are in high spirits even with Coral's recent loss of an eye, which had to hurt a lot. Gina doesn't have any real update on her pregnancy since it is first revealed in Season 1, but considering she doesn't suffer any major injuries in Season 2, she's probably healthy.

While a third season of "Sky Rojo" has not been announced yet, there's a high probability that fans of the crime drama will see more of Coral, Gina, and Wendy in the future. The three women will continue fighting for freedom from their dark past, while Moisés's determination to get misplaced vengeance continues to grow more intense, with the psychotic Romeo whispering in his ear.
