Dave Bautista's Remarks About Knives Out 2 Will Get You Pumped

Rian Johnson surprised most audiences with his stunning murder-mystery "Knives Out" in 2019. It follows private detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) as he tries to unravel the bizarre death of Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), a best-selling crime writer and the head of a publishing empire. It's an energetic thriller with a surprisingly social-political edge that worked. That's all without mentioning the incredible cast of Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield, Don Johnson, and Jaeden Martell.

The hit also caught Netflix's attention, and the streaming service spent $465 million to buy two sequels following Craig's gentleman detective. It'll be interesting to see what mystery Benoit Blanc tackles next. Production on "Knives Out 2" kicked off in June 2021, so the film probably won't arrive until mid-to-late 2022 — as long as it doesn't require any extensive reshoots or extra time for visual effects. Clearly director Rian Johnson has impressed many people in the industry, as he's amassed yet another stunning cast of stars.

Joining Benoit Blanc's latest whodunnit will be Kathryn Hahn, Edward Norton, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Kate Hudson, Janelle Monae, Madeline Cline, Jada Pinkett Smith — and Dave Bautista, whose recent comments about the sequel will definitely get you excited for what's ahead.

Dave Bautista says the Knives Out sequel is even more quirky than the first film

"Knives Out" is a particularly quirky film. As LaKeith Stanfield's detective puts it, "the guy practically lives in a Clue board," referring to the eccentric decorative style of Thrombey mansion. But when speaking to People Magazine about the upcoming sequel, Dave Bautista revealed that,"I really think it's going to be as good, if not better, than the first one." Although he was careful to note that he's wary of dishing out that high praise already: "I'm always afraid to say that because I don't want anybody to get offended saying that we're going to be better, but I really do think this."

Rian Johnson tweeted "Knives Out 2" is set in Greece when production started in June 2021, and it sounds like audiences will meet plenty of interesting characters in the European country. Dave Bautista praised the new batch of suspects, saying "I think the characters are just so much more colorful. I think people are really going to dig this."

The cast won't have the same dynamics or similar traits to the Thrombeys either, as Bautista noted "They're so different." The former-wrestler has already worked with an impressive array of actors thanks to his time as Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Sapper Morton in "Blade Runner 2049" — but he's clearly enjoying working with his new co-stars. "Everybody's cast so well. I was working with a couple of my castmates and was mesmerized by their performances." He said, also adding "I think the characters in this are even more quirky than the first one."

Or maybe he's being nice so audiences don't suspect him as the killer! We're on to you, Dave.
