The Cast For The Walking Dead Season 11 Just Got A Whole Lot Bigger
The highly anticipated final season of AMC's hit series "The Walking Dead" just keeps getting bigger and better. As the show that birthed a hit franchise, "The Walking Dead" started in 2010 and is about to air its 11th and final season. Based on the comic series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Charlie Adlard, and Tony Moore, the story is set in a world post-zombie apocalypse, where chaos reigns and humans have become just as monstrous as the cannibalistic creatures. Andrew Lincoln stars as Rick Grimes until his exit in the ninth season, while the rest of the cast features Melissa McBride, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Steven Yeun, Danai Gurira, and more. The show's lost quite a few characters over the years, as Rick and the others face off against diminishing resources, dangerous zombies, and even worse, the collapse of society, law, and morals as we know it.
The extreme success of "The Walking Dead" has spawned multiple spinoff series, with a few more and a series of movies currently in development. So far, the spinoffs include "Fear the Walking Dead" and "The Walking Dead: World Beyond," while reports state that two more series are on their way — one featuring McBride and Reedus's characters, and the other an anthology-style show focusing on various characters and their backstories. Of course, "The Walking Dead" will always be the show that started it all, and fans are eager to watch the upcoming final chapter. As the show gears up for the premiere on August 22, 2021, it looks like the studio isn't finished packing in more excitement, with a new announcement naming two more new cast members to feature in the final episodes.
The final season of The Walking Dead adds two more characters
On top of an already huge cast that has featured many great talents over the years, "The Walking Dead" is dead-set on making the final season bigger than any before, and that includes a lot of new characters. Previously, it was announced that Michael James Shaw would be joining as the main antagonist Mercer, an influential figure of the Commonwealth, while Laila Robbins will be by his side as Pamela Milton, along with Josh Hamilton as Lance Hornsby. Ritchie Coster and Margot Bingham are playing roles that have not yet been revealed, though Bingham's voice can be heard in Season 10 as Stephanie, who talks to Eugene (Josh McDermitt) over the radio (Polygon).
Now "The Walking Dead" has two more actors joining the cast for the final episodes. According to Deadline, Ian Anthony Dale, who people might recognize from "Hawaii Five-0," will be playing a character named Tomi, who is described as "a long-time member of a group recently discovered by our heroes. His existence continually impacts them in ways none of them could imagine, or avoid." Along with Dale, Laurie Fortier, who has acted in "Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G." and other shows, is playing a mysterious character named Agatha. No further details about her role have been revealed.
Luckily for "The Walking Dead" fans, it's not long before Season 11 will arrive. The last season will have 24 episodes total, aired in two parts. How will this iconic story end?
