Pom Klementieff Explains Mantis' Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Powers
We finally have a little bit more information about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's mysterious Mantis, thanks to the actress who plays her, Pom Klementieff. Klementieff told ComicBook.com that, while she can't give too much away, the alien has the ability to "feel things" by touching people, and to "change emotions."
Mantis' ability to feel the emotions of others was teased slightly in the film's teaser trailer, which showed Mantis touching Star-Lord's hand and announcing that he is in "sexual love" with Gamora, something which Drax finds very funny. However, her ability to change emotions hasn't been revealed thus far, and opens up quite a few possibilities as far as how she can help the team throughout their journey.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to be much more of a team-oriented film than the first movie, with director James Gunn saying that each character will get a "complete arc" in the sequel. For Mantis, this means becoming a sort of surrogate daughter to Dave Bautista's Drax, with Gunn teasing that the two will become close friends in the film as they assist Peter in his search for his father. How her powers will play into this has yet to be seen, but she will likely have an important role in managing the dynamics of the emotionally fraught team.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit theaters on May 5. In the meantime, see some facts about the Guardians that you may not know.
