The Major Plot Twist Fans Fear Coming To The Walking Dead Season 11
Fans of "The Walking Dead" know that when it comes to deaths and plot twists, nothing is off-limits. After all, the show's writers could pretend to kill off a fan-favorite character one week — a la Glenn (Steven Yeun) in Season 6 — only to have them pop up again still perfectly alive a few episodes later. The same can be said for relationships on the show, with unexpected hookups almost guaranteed to take place at some point throughout each season.
At this point, is there really anything that could shock a "Walking Dead" viewer? The answer is, apparently, yes — and it's a colossal yes at that.
The fans who have been keeping up with "The Walking Dead" Season 11, which promises to be the AMC series' final season, have spotted a possible plot development that many fear may actually come to fruition before the show cuts to black for the last time next year. The subplot in question involves two of the show's biggest stars, and if everything goes down the way some viewers suspect, it has the potential to be the most bonkers plot twist in the series' history.
The Walking Dead fans are worried about Maggie and Negan's relationship
"The Walking Dead" fans fear there may be some romantic tension brewing on the series right now between Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) following Episode 5 of Season 11. The episode, titled "Out of the Ashes," features several awkward moments between the pair, who will forever be linked by the fact that Negan killed Maggie's husband, Glenn, at the start of "The Walking Dead" Season 7. In short, it would be the "Walking Dead" hookup to end all hookups.
The main sign in the episode that sparks could someday fly between the pair comes during a memorable argument scene that sees Negan grab hold of Maggie and tell her to "stop it" only for a small tussle to ensue between them. Afterward, the two share a silent glance that fans believe may be a possible moment of affection.
"To fall in love with her husband's killer, would be the craziest s**t ever......but supeerrr interesting," wrote one Redditor in a discussion thread created for the episode. "I absolutely would hate that," wrote another user, before adding, "but I can't deny that they are super interesting to watch. Probably the most compelling pair so far this season."
If Negan were to somehow win over Maggie, it would complete one of the most shocking character arcs in television history. After all, Maggie was forced, while pregnant, to watch her husband get bludgeoned to death by Negan in "The Walking Dead" Season 7. Negan has since become rehabilitated, in a way, through imprisonment and the formation of some important bonds. But has he truly evolved enough to justify Maggie falling for him? Only time will tell.
