Adam Devine, Rebel Wilson Spoof Beauty And The Beast

Beauty and the Beast is the biggest movie of 2017 so far, so it makes sense that the film will be the punchline of many, many jokes at this year's awards shows. Sunday night's MTV Movie and TV Awards kicked off the Beauty and the Beast parody party with a new version of "Tale As Old As Time," courtesy of host Adam Devine and his Pitch Perfect 2 co-stars Hailee Steinfeld and Rebel Wilson.

"Tale As Old As Time" was famously recorded by Angela Lansbury for the 1991 cartoon, with Celine Dion providing the requisite pop cover alongside Peabo Bryson. The song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and also netted a Golden Glove and two Grammy's. For the 2017 remake, the song was sung by Emma Thompson and covered (in an MTV Movie and TV Award-nominated moment) by Ariana Grande and John Legend.

Devine's version is a bit less sweet than the film's take on the song, with the actor beginning the number by suiting up as the Beast (alongside the movie's Josh Gad) and requesting a Belle. Steinfeld jumps out of the audience in full costume, much to the delight of Emma Watson, before joining Devine on stage alongside Wilson's Mrs. Potts.

"Tale as old as time," Wilson sings as Devine and Steinfeld dance. "Music number stars the show. I wanted to look hot, I'm wearing a teapot, man this really blows." After a few Taraji P. Henson jokes, the stage begins to become enveloped in fire, and, although Wilson and Steinfeld caution Devine to stop, he decides to continue, because "Corden would do it." You can watch a clip of Devine's performance above.

Beauty and the Beast took home two big awards at last night's ceremony, winning Movie of the Year and Best Actor in a Movie for Watson. If you're a fan of the film, relive all of the magic by seeing some of the Easter eggs you may have missed.
