Our Last Crusade Or The Rise Of A New World Season 2 - What We Know So Far

Political intrigue, war, and a clash between the worlds of fantasy and science fiction are just a few of the appeals when it comes to "Our Last Crusade or the Rise of the New World," and fans of popular anime like "The Seven Deadly Sins" and "No Game, No Life" will definitely like this series. An anime developed by Japanese animation studio Silver Link, "Our Last Crusade" is actually based on the light novel series of the same name by author Kei Sazane and illustrator Ao Nekonabe (Yen Press). The light novel was first published by Kadokawa in 2017, with manga and anime adaptations soon following.

"Our Last Crusade" Season 1 was released in 2020, and since then fans have been wondering if the show will ever get a second season. Thankfully, they are in luck. Silver Link has confirmed that the studio is working on a second season of "Our Last Crusade." However, it has kept the remainder of the details surrounding the project an utter mystery. With no official release date or trailers, we have nothing to base our expectations on except for the details of Season 1 and the events of the original light novel. With that in mind, here is what we know so far about "Our Last Crusade" Season 2.

What is the release date of Our Last Crusade Season 2?

At the current moment, Silver Link has not announced an official release date for Season 2 of "Our Last Crusade." In fact, the company revealed its intentions to produce a second season only recently, posting a production announcement on the series' official site on October 1, 2021. What this means is that it is a bit too early in Season 2's production cycle to nail down a specific release date.

However, we can still estimate when Season 2 might be released based on the production cycle of the first season. Season 1 of "Our Last Crusade" was originally announced in October 2019 (via Anime News Network), but didn't air until a year afterwards. Based on this, it seems fairly likely that Season 2 will see the light of day sometime in October 2022.

While the new season is set to air on Japanese TV first, Funimation will be in charge of streaming the series internationally, as it did with Season 1. Season 1 also received an English dub shortly after the release of the original Japanese version, a treatment which Season 2 is also likely to receive.

Who is in the cast of Our Last Crusade Season 2?

"Our Last Crusade" primarily focuses on the lives of two bitter enemies who manage to form a relationship despite the conflicts between their countries. The first is Iska, played by Yuusuke Kobayashi. Iska is a soldier for the technologically advanced Heavenly Empire. His counterpart is Alice, a mage of the Nebulis Sovereignty, a magic-based society that has fought a bitter war with the Empire for a century. Alice is played by Sora Amamiya (via Myanimelist).

Of course, there is a larger supporting cast to tag along with our leading duo. Members include Jhin, Mismis and Nene, three Imperial soldiers serving in the 907th Unit along with Iska. They are portrayed by Shun'ichi Toki, Nao Shiraki, and Kaori Ishihara, respectively. Meanwhile, on the side of the Nebulis Sovereignty exist characters like Alice's maid, Rin, her younger sister, Sisbell, and Lord Mask, the head of the Zoa family. They are all voiced by Yumiri Hanamori, Azumi Waki, and Hikaru Midorikawa, respectively.

What is the plot of Our Last Crusade Season 2?

Season 1 of "Our Last Crusade" follows Iska and Alice as the two flip between fighting on the battlefield and playing friends in neutral territory before finally teaming up and establishing a partnership. In time, their increasingly romantic relationship might finally garner peace between their nations.

According to Monsters and Critics, Season 2 of "Our Last Crusade" will adapt the events of the original light novel, starting with Volume 5. Picking up where the last season left off, Season 2 will cover Sisbell's attempts to undo a conspiracy that threatens the Nebulis Sovereignty. Full of action, romance, and at least one assassination attempt, Season 2 of "Our Last Crusade" promises an exciting new tale for fans of the first season.

However, it is unknown how much of the light novel Season 2 intends to adapt. The first season garnered some criticism for its pacing, covering four volumes in just 12 episodes when many anime do the same in twice as much time. Unfortunately, Silver Link has not announced how many episodes Season 2 is planned to be, so fans may not get entirely what they want out of the next chapter of "Our Last Crusade."
