The Beautiful Message Squid Game's Oh Yeong-Su Wants Fans To Hear
In a span of less than a month, the South Korean Netflix series "Squid Game" has become a worldwide phenomenon, topping Netflix viewership charts, inspiring Halloween costumes, and becoming a new staple in the ever-expanding world of pop culture. While most of the cast of the survival thriller series wasn't too well-known in the Western world, a lot of the actors and actresses are quickly becoming better known outside of their home country.
One of the biggest scene-stealers in the first season of "Squid Game" was Oh Yeong-su, who played Oh Il-nam. Yeong-su is much older than much of his co-stars, but that doesn't stop him from offering some deep and moving insight to his fellow contestants. While the character of Il-nam is far much sinister and mysterious in "Squid Game" itself, given his deceivingly mild-mannered appearance and the big reveal in the final episode, his actor clearly seems like a man of good nature and intentions.
Oh Yeong-su is truly grateful for the success of Squid Game
While being interviewed on a news show in South Korea (via Reddit), Oh Yeong-su was asked by the show's anchors to provide a few words for the fans of "Squid Game." Yeong-su thanked Netflix viewers around the world for making the show as popular as it was, saying that it was very meaningful to him. "It makes me feel like a world-class actor which feels really great." he told fans. "My favorite word of all words is beautiful." Yeong-su went on to say that the success of "Squid Game" has given him a new appreciation for how beautiful the world is, and how the same applies to its people."Everyone, I hope you live a beautiful life," Yeong-su said, wrapping up his statement.
"Squid Game" was a show that truly took everyone by surprise, and it seems like not even the show's large cast knew just how big it would eventually be for Netflix. It's nice hearing just how thankful cast members such as Yeong-su are for the experience.
