What Happened To Mutt On Schitt's Creek?
Reformed party girl Alexis Rose (Annie Murphy) only has two serious boyfriends on the comedy series "Schitt's Creek" — the free-spirited drifter, Mutt Schitt (Tim Rozon), and the sweet VILF (veterinarian I'd like to...) Ted Mullens (Dustin Milligan). During Season 1 of "Schitt's Creek," Alexis's relationship status is complicated, as she immediately finds herself in the middle of a love triangle between the town's two most eligible (and possibly only) bachelors.
The sexual tension between Alexis and Mutt reaches its pinnacle in the Season 1 finale, and eventually, Alexis dumps poor Ted in favor of Mutt. Their romance is short-lived though, and the two end the relationship when they realize that they don't have much in common. Following their split in Season 2, Episode 6, "Moira vs. Town Council," Mutt goes MIA until the Season 2 finale, when he reemerges with a new girlfriend. The finality of Mutt and Alexis' breakup effectively ends Mutt's run as a series regular.
After that, Rozon only appears in two other episodes of the Emmy award-winning comedy series. While most of the characters of "Schitt's Creek" get tidy (and happy) endings, Mutt's fate remains unknown. What happened to Roland Schitt's (Chris Elliott) least favorite son?
The actor who played Mutt landed a starring role on another hit series
In July 2015, seven months after the premiere of Season 1 of "Schitt's Creek," The Hollywood Reporter announced that Syfy had acquired the rights to the Canadian series adaptation of the comic book "Wynonna Earp," with Rozon set to star as infamous gunslinger Doc Holliday. The series debuted in April 2016 and was met with widespread critical acclaim (the supernatural western has a 92% approval ratings among critics on Rotten Tomatoes), sealing Mutt's (and Rozon's) "Schitt's Creek" fate. Mutt does pop up in the Season 3 premiere to provide an explanation for his character's exit: a prolonged road trip to view pine cones.
Mutt's disappearance from the sleepy hamlet of Schitt's Creek didn't raise much of an outcry among fans. However, Mutt's reappearance in Season 4, Episode 11, "The Rollout," proves pivotal to Alexis' storyline and gives fans some closure regarding the character. When Mutt attempts to reignite the romantic spark between him and Alexis, her rebuff of his advances reinforces how much she has evolved from previous seasons. Mutt also gives fans the best going-away present ever by inadvertently advising Alexis to reveal her true feelings for Ted. Presumably, Mutt sticks around for the birth of his little brother, which is what brings him back to town. After that, what happens to the bearded, barn-dwelling hunk is left up to the "Schitt's Creek" viewers to decide.
