South Park Season 25 Release Date And Characters - What We Know So Far
"South Park" is one of the more popular and longest-running television shows in recent history. Originally airing in the bygone era of the late 1990s, "South Park" has run for more then 20 seasons and over 300 episodes. Created by the legendary Trey Parker and Matt Stone, "South Park" follows four elementary aged kids that get into all sorts of shenanigans far beyond that of a typical young student.
The boys have had multiple encounters with aliens, time travel, euphoric sentient towels, man-bear-pig hybrids (or was it pig bear mans?), "World of Warcraft," and even chili-based cannibalism. It is sometimes a shock that the show hasn't been canceled, and it is surely no stranger to controversy. Needless to say, the television show is most assuredly not for children.
"South Park" has become a franchise, with a movie and several video game properties like the "Stick of Truth" and "Fractured But Whole" turn-based role playing games. However, when can fans expect season 25 of the side-splitting series?
When is the release date of South Park Season 25?
Season 24 of "South Park" was shorter than usual due to the pandemic, consisting of only two specials, "The Pandemic Special" and "South ParQ Vaccination Special," which aired on September 30, 2020 and March 10, 2021, respectively. "South Park" has already been renewed up to Season 30 (via The Wrap), so it was never in any doubt whether or not the boys from "South Park" would return for Season 25, but rather a matter of when.
'South Park" creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker have also been commissioned to craft 14 specials of indeterminate length for Paramount+. Stone and Parker hope to release two specials a year, so they will certainly be busy between that and the normal seasons. Luckily for fans of the show, Comedy Central just announced that Season 25 of "South Park" will begin airing very soon, on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.
Who are the characters in South Park Season 25?
The characters of Season 25 of "South Park" is sure to contain the main cast. Kyle Broflovski (Matt Stone) is known for his aggressive mother and closest internet troll father. Stan Marsh (Trey Parker) is the blue and red beanie wearing de facto leader of the friends. Kenny McCormick (Matt Stone) speaks through his muffled parka, and has been granted the curse of imperfect immortality. Finally, out of the main group of friends, Eric Cartman's (Trey Parker), ceaseless ignorance and arrogance sometimes make him the ersatz villain.
We will also surely see Sharon (April Stewart) and Randy Marsh (Trey Parker), considering their recent endeavors in the agricultural field. We will also see Mr. Garrison (Trey Parker), with Matt Stone recently saying (via IGN), "I was so f***ing happy to get Garrison back." This is most likely referencing the fact that the character had been pulling double duty as President of the United States within the series.
What could the plot of South Park Season 25 be?
The overall plot of Season 25 of "South Park" probably still revolves Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny and several other students and adults in their life. "South Park" has a reputation for incredibly topical humor, with episodes often lampooning events that occurred that week. Election episodes are often released within 24 hours of an election, and an episode that showed the capture of Saddam Hussein was aired three days after his real life capture. The creation of "South Park" even has its own documentary that highlights how the team is able to create entire episodes in a week's time.
This kind of episode turnover is one of the most endearing aspects of "South Park," and one that has cemented its position as a pop-culture corner stone. We all can look towards current events to know what might potentially be in the upcoming season of "South Park." Maybe we'll get another Casa Bonita episode, considering Matt Stone and Trey Parker now own the restaurant.
