The Brooke Scene On The Bold And The Beautiful That Went Too Far
Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) has been the central vixen on "The Bold and the Beautiful" since the show launched back in 1987. Initially a blue-collar bad girl from the wrong side of the tracks, Brooke's attraction to Ridge Forrester (then Ronn Moss, now Thorsten Kaye) resulted in a tug-of-war between herself and the proper Caroline Spencer (Joanna Johnson) for the fashion designer's heart.
In the 30-plus years since "Bold" debuted on CBS, Brooke has transformed herself from a waitress to a fashion designer and chemist. She's a matriarch who now has a generally stable relationship with Ridge — but she's done many wild things in her time.
For example, she once slept with her daughter Hope Logan's (then Kim Matula, now Annika Noelle) college-aged boyfriend, Oliver Jones (Zack Conroy), thinking he was her then-husband Ridge. Brooke got together with her sister Katie Logan's (Heather Tom) husband Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) when Katie was suffering through psychosis related to her post-partum depression. And after eating berries while trapped on a deserted island with her grown stepson Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson), she endured erotic delusions that were so severe she had no idea whether or not they slept together.
However, one Brooke moment definitely takes the cake among the other many, many times she's crossed the line. Which moment pushed things too far for fans of the show?
Bill and Ridge's rivalry over Brooke climbed to dangerous new heights
In 2014, Brooke was hot and heavy with Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), and they were planning to wed. Ridge was bound and determined to get back with his ex and tried to find a flaw in Dollar Bill's armor. He learned by happenstance that Bill had cheated on Brooke with Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer) thanks to some selfies Quinn took in Bill's bed. Ridge spied the evidence on Quinn's phone and saved it. Determined to expose Bill, he followed the pair to their Dubai ceremony.
He made it to the wedding in the nick of time. As Brooke and Bill joined hands on a beach, Ridge arrived. He showed Brooke the phone, then dragged her into a waiting helicopter to speak in private. But Bill was in contact with the pilot, and that pilot happened to be Justin Barber (Aaron D. Spears) — Bill's right-hand man. Bill ordered Justin to knock Ridge out of the helicopter by any means necessary, and Justin sharply banked rightward. Ridge tumbled into the Persian Gulf, leaving Brooke to believe her ex-husband had drowned.
The scene made a big splash with fans
Ridge was soon rescued, alive and well, from a nearby beach. The group headed back to America with Bill and Brooke's relationship in tatters and everyone tutting Bill for going too far in his emotional arms race with Ridge. Ridge subsequently managed to damage Bill and Brooke's romance and, aside from a few breaks, he's been with Brooke ever since.
It's a moment that fans of the show have never forgotten. CBS named it the fifth most jaw-dropping moment in "B&B" history, and members at the Soaps.com message board for the show expressed their shock at the incident.
Some fans posting to those forums at the time blamed Brooke's bad decision-making skills for nearly getting the love of her life killed. "How can Brooke be with a man like Bill and Ridge is ten times the man that Bill is[?]" wondered indorelady. But the fanbase largely heaped scorn on Bill's shoulders for his extreme behavior. To quote Layngel, "I was really surprised Bill would go this far. I figured fist to cuffs [sic] on the beach, but not this."
No matter which side of the fence you fall on, it's a "The Bold and the Beautiful" moment that went too far.
