The Drama Filled Reality Show Netflix Fans Are Obsessed With

Netflix has totally upped its game when it comes to its original reality TV content. The streaming platform has long offered its own original takes on non-scripted shows, especially when it comes to traditional formats like cooking shows or dating competitions. But Netflix has also been focusing on making reality TV shows that put the spotlight on the drama of once-unknown characters, propelling them into mainstream stardom the way that veteran cable networks such as Bravo or MTV have done.

Netflix shows like "Bling Empire" or "My Unorthodox Life" have gone all-in on introducing viewers to the ins and outs of daily life for seemingly "normal" people who, in some form or another, live aspirational or unique lives. The streaming giant seems to be only increasing its nonfiction offerings and essentially creating its own influencers in the reality space. And one fan-favorite series just recently released its highly-anticipated new season that has subscribers totally sucked in.

Selling Sunset Season 4 showcases bigger homes and bigger drama

At the end of November, Netflix gifted subscribers an early Christmas present by releasing the fourth season of "Selling Sunset." It was clearly just what viewers were hoping for, as the series is currently on the list of Netflix's Top 10 TV Shows in the U.S. The real estate series, which premiered in 2019, follows the major players at The Oppenheim Group, a luxury real estate company in Los Angeles. In addition to giving viewers an inside look at the lavish pads of the Hollywood elite, "Selling Sunset" has no shortage of drama between its equally-fabulous agents, who include Christine Quinn, Chrishell Stause, Maya Vander, Heather Rae Young, Mary Fitzgerald, and the brokerage's co-founding twins Brett and Jason Oppenheim.

Season 4 has plenty of juicy storylines outside the usual workplace competition. There are messy relationships, shocking betrayals, and plenty of confrontation. Of course, the over-the-top properties featured seem to only go up in price and opulence, providing an ideal backdrop for the drama. The show has become so popular that Netflix announced two spinoffs — "Selling Tampa" and "Selling The OC" — so it's clear the show has been nothing short of a hit.
