Paul Bettany Is Ted Kaczynski In Manhunt: Unabomber Trailer

The hunt is on in the first trailer for Discovery's upcoming eight-episode miniseries Manhunt: Unabomber. The series will feature Avengers: Age of Ultron actor Paul Bettany as Ted Kaczynski, the man responsible for orchestrating a 17-year bombing campaign that killed three people and injured 23 others.

"It's iconic," says Sam Worthington's FBI Agent and criminal profiler Jim "Fitz" Fitzgerald at the start of the trailer. "The most famous police sketch in history." A bomb then goes off, showing that Kaczynski means business– and leading Fitz to swearing that he will find him.

"We have done every king of victimology," Fitz is told. "These victims are totally random." However, he doesn't agree with that assessment, and determines that the FBI's profile of the bomber was wrong. Kaczynski's brother David (Mark Duplass) seems to agree as well, saying that no one else has been able to figure out the truth except for Fitz.

Fitz determines that the man they are searching for is lonely, smart, and extremely precise. "He feels under-appreciated, victimized, angry," he says. "Figure out the philosophy. You can figure out the man, you can crack the code." However, Kaczynski has no plans to make himself easy to catch, as he sends packages with bombs in them across the country.

Chris Noth, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Jane Lynch, Michael Nouri, and Brian d'Arcy James also star in the series, which comes from House director Greg Yaitanes. The show is set to premiere on August 1 at 9 p.m. on Discovery; while we wait, see how some big screen killers should really look based on their real life counterparts.
