Sung Kang, Robbie Amell, Stephen Amell Cast In Thriller Code 8

A Fast & Furious franchise star joins two superhero cousins for an epic new film. 

The Hollywood Reporter announces that Sung Kang, Robbie Amell, and Stephen Amell have been cast in Code 8. Directed by short film creator Jeff Chan, Code 8 is billed as a high-powered, action-packed sci-fi thriller. 

The outlet provided a short summary: "Code 8 is set in a world where four percent of the population is born with varying supernatural abilities, but rather than be billionaires or superheroes, most 'specials' face discrimination, live in poverty and often resort to crime."

Kang, known for his work as Han Seoul-Oh in the Fast & Furious film series, will play Agent Park, the head of a militarized police unit. Robbie Amell, who stars in the CW series The Flash, portrays Connor Reed, a headstrong man desperate to find funds to pay for his dying mother's medical treatment. Pushed to the edge of his limits, Reed stoops to join an underground criminal ring fronted by Garrett, the role Arrow actor Stephen Amell steps into. 

Kari Matchett (Covert Affairs, Maudie), Greg Bryk (The Incredible Hulk), and Aaron Abrams (Hannibal, Blindspot) also star in Code 8. The film will shoot principal photography in Canada, and is expected to be released in 2019.
