Wrath Of Khan Director Hints At New Star Trek Project
Let's just hope there's some melodramatic shouting.
Nicholas Meyer, the director of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, recently told Trek Movie that he's working on a mysterious new Star Trek project. Although there are no further details, it's enough to intrigue a good portion of the Trekkie universe.
It's already known that Meyer is writing and producing the upcoming CBS series Star Trek: Discovery, but the new project is apparently something different. "One thing that has nothing to do with Discovery is that I am working on another Star Trek project, but I can't discuss that," he said.
When asked if there's only one Star Trek series in the works, Meyer cryptically answered: "You can assume." So that leaves the bay door open for pretty much anything. Maybe it's the new movie? Paramount announced last summer (via The Hollywood Reporter) that Star Trek 4 is coming and that Chris Hemsworth will be aboard as George Kirk.
Meyer also co-wrote Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, and his contributions to the original movie series are among the most popular in the franchise. Of course, the last three Star Trek movies have been set in the reboot's alternate timeline, and the villainous Khan already appeared in the form of Benedict Cumberbatch.
We'll keep you posted as more details emerge. Until then, check out a few Star Trek fan theories that change everything.
