What Time Will The Matrix Resurrections Be On HBO Max?
After nearly two decades, a fourth "Matrix" movie has dodged the industry bullets necessary to make it to the big screen, and "The Matrix Resurrections" promises to be one of the must-see blockbuster events of the winter season. With many original actors returning, including Keanu Reeves as Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity, and with the addition of newer talent such as Priyanka Chopra, the film promises audiences a new chapter in the Matrix saga. As one of the films which helped usher in the 21st century with its groundbreaking special effects, it will be fascinating to see what director Lana Wachowski is able to do behind the camera with so much new technology available.
However cinematic the experience may be, there are many valid reasons you might consider skipping the theaters for "The Matrix Resurrections." Of course, we are still in the midst of a constantly shifting pandemic, and with COVID cases rising heading into the holiday season, even those who have been vaccinated may rightly feel hesitant to visit a theater. Or maybe you simply don't want to pay $10 for a soda.
Whatever your reason for staying home, you'll be happy to know that, like the rest of Warner Bros.' 2021 release slate, "The Matrix Resurrections" will release same-day to HBO Max. And if you're hoping to be one of the first to get your eyeballs on it, we've got a prediction regarding the precise time the movie should show up on the streaming service.
The Matrix Resurrections will likely debut early on December 22
The official theatrical release date for "The Matrix Resurrections" is Wednesday, December 22, and it will release simultaneously on HBO Max. While HBO has not provided exact times for the film to go live on their streaming platform, we can look to the many other movies that have seen the same release strategy from Warner Bros. Based on that information, "The Matrix Revolutions" will most likely be available to stream at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT.
However, there have been exceptions, as in the case of Denis Villeneuve's "Dune," which was released to HBO Max on the evening before its scheduled release date in order to accommodate early screenings. Additionally, since the film is debuting during Christmas week, there may be behind-the-scenes considerations to which we aren't privy. That said, there has been no talk of a similarly early release for "The Matrix Revolutions," so don't break out the wraparound shades too early.
