The Actress Behind Korra From The Legend Of Korra Is Gorgeous In Real Life
"The Legend of Korra" is a popular spin-off animated series of "Avatar: The Last Airbender." In the show's universe, just as its predecessor, people can control, or "bend," each of the four elements — water, fire, earth, and air. There is only one person who can bend all four of the elements and they are known as the Avatar. There is only one Avatar that exists at a given time, and they are responsible for maintaining the balance and harmony in the world.
The main character of "The Legend of Korra" is, of course, Korra, who is the current Avatar — and both a reincarnation and successor to Aang, the main character and Avatar in "Avatar: The Last Airbender." In the show, Korra has moved to Republic City to learn airbending from the son of Aang, Tenzin. After her arrival, she joins a pro-bending team who she ends up fighting alongside with against a corrupt politician who strips benders of their abilities. The rest of the series has her continue her duties as the Avatar, and trying to keep balance in the ever-changing world.
As popular as this animated series may have been, the true faces behind the characters — the voice actors, that is — are often a mystery to many viewers. As it happens, the voice actress for Korra is a beautiful and talented actress, producer, and writer. This is who she is.
Janet Varney voices Korra
Janet Varney is the actress who voices Korra. On "The Legend of Korra" we see her as an ultimate girl boss Avatar in her signature blue outfit and brunette hair. In reality, Varney is blonde and probably doesn't spend most of her time learning airbending and stopping corruption in Republic City.
While she is primarily known for her work as Korra, "The Legend of Korra" is only one item on her long list of credits. She has also worked on other animated series — such as an appearance on Nickelodeon's "The Loud House" as Dr. Linnaeus — and she also does live-action work, having played Becca Barbara on FX's "You're The Worst." According to IMDb, Varney has multiple credits that extend beyond acting, as well, with writer, producer, and even soundtrack credits. She actually wrote a series that was a parody of herself, available on YouTube, titled "Fortune Rookie." In the show, she plays a fictional version of herself who decides to leave show business and become a full-time psychic after receiving advice from a fortune teller.
Varney is a talented and accomplished actor with many projects under her belt. She doesn't seem like she's slowing her roll anytime soon, either, as she just voiced Wonder Woman in the DC Comics animated film "Injustice."
