What Time Will Peacemaker Be On HBO Max?
If you're a DC Extended Universe fan, you might be eagerly anticipating the upcoming television show "Peacemaker." The darkly comedic character of Christopher Smith, aka Peacemaker, is played by John Cena in 2021's "Suicide Squad," a DCEU installment from which he emerged barely alive. In 2020, HBO ordered a spinoff series focusing on the anti-hero's origins, per Variety. The outlet also noted at the time that James Gunn, who also directed "Suicide Squad," would serve as the series writer, and he would direct multiple episodes.
"Peacemaker" has had a relatively short development time. Gunn revealed in a tweet from July that the TV show was pitched, produced, and had completed filming within 11 months. He also confirmed the first season of the HBO Max project would run for eight episodes. The Cena-led show also stars Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, and Robert Patrick as Peacemaker's father, Auggie Smith. As part of DC FanDome in October, HBO Max released a trailer for the show (via Twitter) that confirmed the release date. "Peacemaker" is coming exclusively to HBO Max on January 13, 2022.
If you can't wait to see more of Cena as Peacemaker, we know exactly what time this action-comedy will air so you can catch it as early as possible.
Stream the first three episodes of Peacemaker in the early hours on January 13
On Monday, December 13, "Peacemaker" writer and director James Gunn confirmed in a tweet that the first three episodes of the HBO Max show will come out together on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Gunn added that each of the five remaining episodes will be released weekly after that. As such, viewers now know that the weekly "Peacemaker" release schedule goes into mid-February 2022.
While the HBO Max release date and time of HBO's new movie and television titles is often dependent on when the title or episode airs on the cabler, it's easy to predict the exact time something exclusive to the streaming platform will be released. Luckily, "Peacemaker" is one such streaming-exclusive project.
If it follows the precedent set by other streaming-only titles, HBO Max will likely release "Peacemaker" at 3:01 a.m. ET/12:01 a.m. PT. That's when it has been launching 2021's new release movies, according to CNET, although there have been exceptions based on when those movies opened in theaters. That's also the same schedule that the service uses when releasing other HBO Originals, such as "Doom Patrol" (via SyFy) and the just-launched "And Just Like That...", the "Sex and the City" sequel series (via Decider).
So, if you're ready for Gunn's trademark humor as applied to John Cena's continued performance of the Peacemaker character, complete with his new bald eagle partner (and you want to avoid all the spoilers), you're going to need to set an alarm for the early morning hours of January 13. After all, there's nothing like a bloodbath to start the day.
