Here's How You Can Watch Yellowstone's 1883 Spin-Off
"1883," the upcoming "Yellowstone" prequel series, is set to premiere on December 19. Created by "Yellowstone" showrunner Taylor Sheridan, "1883" aims to explore how the legendary Dutton family came to own the land that their descendants try so hard to protect. Over the course of its first four seasons, "Yellowstone" has been growing in popularity — it currently holds an 85% average Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes – and stars Kevin Costner, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, and Kelly Reilly.
"1883" also boasts a stacked cast, which counts Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Isabel May, and Billy Bob Thornton among its stars. The series will also, notably, even feature a guest appearance from Tom Hanks. Hill and McGraw, meanwhile, play Margaret and James Dutton, the grandparents of Kevin Costner's "Yellowstone" character. Predictably, "Yellowstone" fans are excited to see how similar "1883" ends up being to its parent series, as well as how it explores the history of the franchise's central family.
With all that in mind, here's where fans have to go if they want to watch "1883."
1883 will be available to stream on Paramount+
"1883" premieres as a Paramount+ exclusive. This means that anybody who wants to watch the show will have to sign up for a Paramount+ account. The streaming service was originally known as CBS All Access but was rebranded on March 4 (via The Verge) due to a merger between CBS and Viacom (via Fox Business). The platform has experienced a fairly large uptick in subscribers over the past year (via Deadline), thanks to a number of attention-grabbing exclusives, like "Star Trek" and some "South Park" specials.
Luckily for fans of the "Yellowstone" franchise, Paramount+ offers a 30-day free trial. The platform also offers several different plans for those willing to subscribe to it. The "Essential" plan costs $4.99 a month (or $49.99 for yearly subscribers) and contains limited commercials (via Paramount+). Meanwhile, the commercial-free "Premium" service costs $9.99 a month (or $99.99 per year).
Depending on how well-received "1883" ends up being, Paramount+ may, indeed, be on the verge of receiving another wave of new subscribers, this time courtesy of "Yellowstone" fans.
