Tom Holland Reveals His Most Embarrassing Spider-Man Moment In The MCU
Since first donning the iconic Spider-Man spandex for his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in "Captain America: Civil War," Tom Holland has gone on to become one of the most recognizable stars in the world. That's primarily due to his tenure as the MCU's friendly neighborhood web-slinger, which he will continue with the release of "Spider-Man: No Way Home."
As it is, Holland's post-"No Way Home" future as Peter Parker and his super-powered alter ego remains a bit uncertain. In any case, Holland's run as Spidey has already seen the character endure more ups and downs than any Spider-Man past. Additionally, Holland has brought a youthful spirit, and world-weary wisdom to his Spidey and the MCU as a whole.
Holland has made some mistakes during his run as Spider-Man, however. While most of them have involved inadvertently spoiling key plot points from major MCU projects, he opened up in a recent Rotten Tomatoes interview about a particularly embarrassing moment as Spider-Man that happened on the set of 2019's "Avenger's: Endgame." Here's what happened during that blockbuster production that left Holland's face red.
Holland mis-timed his action in an iconic moment from Avengers: Endgame
"Endgame" was, of course, the film that brought a close to the "Infinity Saga." It did so via an epic showdown between the army of Thanos (Josh Brolin), and Earth's mightiest heroes, The Avengers. Said heroes assembled for the fight in what may be the most iconic moment in Marvel history, with Captain America (Chris Evans) uttering his famous comic book catchphrase for the first and only time in the MCU. And as Holland tells it, he indeed ruined an early take of the famed "Avengers, assemble!" scene.
The actor recounted how he mucked up said take in the RT interview, explaining, "Evans was like four or five people down from me, and the direction was, as soon as he says 'assemble,' everyone then screams and charges towards the enemy." Holland then detailed how he jumped the gun on one take, screaming and charging the enemy all by himself, "I couldn't hear [Evans] say 'assemble,' because he says it to himself. So he says, 'Avengers!' and I just went [makes screaming noise] and ran off by myself."
Thankfully, Holland has a sense of humor about the embarrassing gaffe, laughing all the way as he stated, "I got like 30 feet, and I had to turn round and like walk back to all my childhood heroes and be like 'Sorry guys, I got that wrong." As embarrassing as the mistake was for Holland, his hilarious retelling of it will likely only make his fans love him more.
