The Major Prop Jennifer Lawrence Took From The Set Of The Hunger Games
It was the 2010's "Winter's Bone" that put Jennifer Lawrence on the map, earning the actress her first Academy Award nomination, but it was her role as Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games" films, based on the YA series by Suzanne Collins, that turned her into a star. Lawrence led the franchise as the resourceful girl from District 12 whose involvement in an annual life or death competition known as The Hunger Games leads to the downfall of an oppressive political regime.
In addition to playing the role of Katniss in "The Hunger Games" and its three sequels — "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," The Hunger Games: The Mocking Jay – Part 1," and "The Hunger Games: The Mocking Jay – Part 2" — Lawrence starred in several commercially and critically successful films. Her other movie credits include "X-Men: First Class," "American Hustle," "Joy," and "Red Sparrow." She also garnered three more Academy Award nominations, winning the best actress Oscar in 2013 for her role as widow Tiffany Maxwell in "Silver Linings Playbook." Next, she'll appear onscreen in the Netflix comedy "Don't Look Up" opposite Leonardo DiCaprio.
While Lawrence has appeared in a multitude of intriguing movies, there is one notable entry in her resumé that she chose to keep a few pieces of: "The Hunger Games" movies. Yes, the franchise the helped her breakout onto the A-list is the same franchise from which she took a few mementos to remember her experiences making it.
Jennifer Lawrence kept Katniss Everdeen's clothes and her bow
In 2015, Jennifer Lawrence opened up about what items from Katniss Everdeen's wardrobe she took home once filming on "The Hunger Games" wrapped. During an interview with E! News at San Diego Comic-Con, she revealed she took her character's leather hunting jacket and boots. As she told reporter Marc Malkin, "I have the leather jacket — the leather hunting jacket — and the boots [...] the leather hunting boots." She then joked that she wears them "all the time."
While Katniss' jacket and boots may be the best keepsake she took from the set of "The Hunger Games" films, it's not the only item in her closet. During a 2018 interview on the BBC Radio 1 podcast "Movies That Made Me," Lawrence discussed her iconic role as Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games" films. Late in her chat with host and film critic Ali Plumb, the actress revealed she took a memento from the set — and her answer is totally different from the one she gave to E! News a few years earlier. She shared, "I do have my original bow," and went on to say she doesn't display it prominently in her home, choosing to keep it safely tucked away in a closet.
She also revealed that all of her awards are at her parents' house because she tends to shove her other accolades in inconspicuous locations. The humble A-lister feels it's an unnecessary and boastful reminder that she starred in the film. "I don't want people to think about that when they come into my home," Lawrence joked.
