Keanu Reeves Helps Lily Collins Deal With An Eating Disorder In To The Bone Trailer
Lily Collins is battling a debilitating eating disorder in the new trailer for Netflix's upcoming dramedy To The Bone. The movie, written and directed by Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Marti Noxon, stars Collins as Ellen, a young girl who enters an unconventional treatment program to help her battle her anorexia.
The trailer begins by showing how adept Ellen is at counting calories, with her sister saying it's like she has "calorie Aspergers." While Ellen insists that she has her disorder under control, she eventually passes out, leading to her family sending her to the treatment center. It's there that she meets Keanu Reeves' Dr. William Beckham, who tells her that he will only treat her if she's interested in living. "The way that you're going, one day, you won't wake up," Beckham tells Ellen. "Every time you hear that voice I want you to tell it to f*** off."
She also befriends Alex Sharpe's Luke, who helps her through her journey. "People say they love you, but what they mean is they love how loving you makes them feel about themselves," Ellen says to him. "I don't even know where to start with that, that's all kinds of wrong," Luke responds.
With Beckham's unconventional treatments, which include screaming curses in public and running out into the rain to celebrate being alive, it appears that Ellen will eventually be able to work through her issues. "Some of them actually seem like they're doing okay, like they might get lives and be semi-interesting people," Ellen reluctantly tells Beckham about her fellow patients. "Did you just say something optimistic?" Beckham responds. "I did say semi," she shoots back.
Carrie Preston, Lili Taylor, Ciara Bravo, Liana Liberato, Brooke Smith, Maya Eshet, and Kathryn Prescott also star in the movie, which is set to hit Netflix on July 14. While we wait, see some other upcoming Netflix originals that should definitely be on your radar.
