"Cheer" is a smash hit documentary-style television series from Netflix. Originally released in early 2020, "Cheer" follows the prolific Navarro College cheer team, named "The Bulldogs." According to USA Today, the Bulldogs have earned more than 10 National Championship titles, and cheering is just as important as football in the small Texas town of Corsican, from which the Navarro team hails.
Currently holding an impressive 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, "Cheer" has been a huge success for Netflix and all of those involved. One of the biggest stars of the show is Jerry Harris, who is known for his boisterous and energetic personality. However, the now-famous cheerleader has had a pall cast over him due to serious allegations against his character. But what could be so serious as to change the course of "Cheer?"

In September 2020, Jeremiah "Jerry" Harris was arrested on child pornography charges (via CNN). The charges allege that Harris solicited obscene pictures and videos from minors on Snapchat, as well as engaging in sexual acts with minors. A spokesperson for Harris stated, "We categorically dispute the claims made against Jerry Harris, which are alleged to have occurred when he was a teenager." The complaint suggests that Harris, 19 at the time, as talking to 13-year-old boys and engaging them in sexual acts. The very same article notes that a judge in October denied bond for Harris because "There is no condition or combination of conditions to reasonably assure the safety of the community."
In addition, NBC News said that Harris admits to talking to and soliciting pornographic material from 10 to 15 other individuals that he knew were minors. These charges carry a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in prison.
