The Deleted Chris Noth Sex And The City Reboot Scene You'll Never Get To See
Contains spoilers for "And Just Like That..."
The brainchild of Darren Star, "Sex and the City" made its HBO debut in June of 1998 and wasted little time becoming a small screen hit. Featuring the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and the late Willie Garson, among others, the series put a spotlight on metropolitan life and the adult dating scene in New York City. This premise, coupled with its massive popularity, kept it around for six seasons and nearly 100 episodes, but the "Sex and the City" canon has continued to expand far beyond that.
The franchise jumped to the big screen in 2008 and once again in 2010 before moving back to television for the short-lived prequel "The Carrie Diaries." When the CW experiment centering on a young Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb) concluded in 2014, fans would have to wait for some time to check out the property's next chapter. Thankfully, their patience wasn't for nothing, as "And Just Like That..." arrived in 2021 via HBO Max to continue the "Sex and the City" story where the 2010 film left off.
At the time of this writing, "And Just Like That..." has yet to complete its run on streaming. Nevertheless, we've already learned of one scene featuring actor Chris Noth that won't make it to air in the coming weeks.
Mr. Big's reunion with Carrie Bradshaw has been scrapped
Since the outset of "Sex and the City," Chris Noth has played John James Preston: Carrie Bradshaw's (Parker) on-again, off-again love interest who's perhaps better known colloquially as "Mr. Big." To many fans, he was an integral piece of the "Sex and the City" puzzle, meaning he just had to show up on "And Just Like That..." at some point. Well, he did, only to suffer a fatal heart attack and die in his first appearance during the season premiere. The initial plan would've seen him make one more appearance at the tail end of the revival, but that idea seems to have officially wound up on the cutting room floor.
According to TVLine, the Season 1 finale of "And Just Like That..." features an emotional moment with Carrie Bradshaw spreading Big's ashes at Paris' Pont des Arts bridge. As she does so, a dream sequence would begin where Noth's character would appear to her "in the flesh." Ultimately, though, the creative team behind the program decided to cut him out of the scene altogether to put the focus more on Carrie as she processes Big's death. This choice comes in the wake of multiple sexual assault allegations coming to light against Noth, which have also led to his departure from "The Equalizer" and the end of his ad campaign with Peloton.
Season 1 of "And Just Like That..." is streaming exclusively on HBO Max, with new episodes arriving every Thursday. It will wrap up its 10-episode run on February 3, 2022.
