Aubrey Plaza Befriends Elizabeth Olsen In Darkly Funny Ingrid Goes West Trailer

Aubrey Plaza is having Instagram envy in the new trailer for Ingrid Goes West. In the movie, Plaza will play Ingrid, a young woman who, after a series of self-inflicted setbacks, decides to move out west and befriend LA socialite Taylor (Elizabeth Olsen). They quickly forge a bond, but the facade soon begins to crack, leading to comically malicious results.

The trailer begins with Ingrid obsessively stalking a friend's social media accounts, getting jealous over her lavish wedding and frequent cliched posts about love and life. This eventually culminates in Ingrid showing up at her wedding and spraying pepper spray in her face, which seems to be the catalyst that sends her off to Los Angeles. "LA is the best," she says. "I'm making a ton of new friends. You should totally follow me on Instagram."

Ingrid ends up befriending Taylor by finding her lost dog, and even though Taylor is convinced that she knows her from somewhere, Ingrid insists they haven't met before. "Maybe you're confusing her with one of your Insta-fans," a friend tells her.

Ingrid begins to explore her creative side alongside her new best friend Taylor, and her actions begin to get stranger and stranger as she integrates herself into Taylor's life. "What is this?" asks O'Shea Jackson Jr.'s Dan. "Why are you acting like this? You don't even like these people." Ingrid insists that she does like them, and that what she's doing makes total sense. "I'm not a psychopath, I just want to be her friend," Ingrid says.

Wyatt Russell, Billly Magnussen, Pom Klementieff, and Meredith Hagner also star in the movie, which is directed by Matt Spicer (It's Not You It's Me) based off a script from Spicer and David Branson Smith (Enlightened). The film, which debuted to positive reviews at Sundance, is due out on Aug. 11; while we wait, see some of the other movies that will blow you away this summer.
