The Avengers: Endgame Star-Lord Scene That Has Fans Scratching Their Heads

"Avengers: Endgame" premiered back in 2019, yet it will probably have fans talking for years to come. The film brought the legendary battle against Thanos (Josh Brolin) to a close and helped wrap up phase three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With how much is going on in the film, "Avengers: Endgame" left viewers with a ton of unanswered questions. The film's take on time travel alone is enough to make your head spin, and that's not even to mention the epic final battle against Thanos. Sure, when we hear Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) utter "On your left" to a depleted Captain America (Chris Evans) and then see a league of blipped Avengers come soaring through dozens of portals, it's truly a goosebump-inducing moment. However, there were several moments during that battle sequence that still has fans raising their eyebrows. One of these includes the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt).

Fans are confused about Star-Lord's boosters

On the Marvel Studios subreddit, u/meesa_lukai posed a question about the epic final battle in "Avengers: Endgame:" How is Star-Lord able to fly into battle totally horizontal using only two small blasts from his space boots? Given how all of the other Avengers who can fly have to use powerful super suits or straight-up magic, it appears that some fans are left a bit confused regarding how he's able to fly with his thruster boots on Earth. They seem perfectly adequate while he's in deep space, as he only needs minimal propulsion to maneuver in zero gravity, but, as u/CalabungaDude pointed out, "His boosters accelerate him in a horizontal plane. Gravity will still pull him towards the floor in the vertical plane unless he has some device providing lift to counter it."

While u/CalabungaDude was far from the only fan who questioned the science behind Star-Lord's boosters, several fans did have some theories on how Star-Lord achieved this physical feat. In response to the question of how Star-Lord can fly with two tiny rockets, u/seventysamurai wrote, "With insanely strong core strength I imagine."

In a separate thread, u/Pszx offered a potentially conversation-ending explanation. "He has a jetpack on his back," they explained, and included a still from a different moment in the film that shows Star-Lord with boosters on his back. It looks like this mystery is perhaps one we can chalk up to yet another editing mistake in "Avengers: Endgame."
