The Best Chicago Med Episode According To IMDb
If you were to ask a group of avid TV watchers what their favorite medical drama series is, you'd likely get a wide variety of responses. Titles like "Grey's Anatomy," "The Resident," and "ER" would almost surely be in the conversation. But for many viewers, the series that stands out the most is "Chicago Med."
One of the shows in NBC's "One Chicago" franchise, which also includes "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D.," the drama series focuses on the professional and personal lives of a group of medical practitioners working in Chicago. Throughout the years, fans have seen characters like Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss), April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta), and Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) endure more day-to-day drama than any health worker should.
Indeed, the show has given birth to some pretty wild moments over the course of its seven-season (and counting) run. However, there is one particular episode of "Chicago Med" that fans have held up above all the rest as the best that the show has to offer.
Never Let You Go reigns supreme
On IMDb, users rated Season 4, Episode 19 of "Chicago Med," titled "Never Let You Go," as the show's best episode to date. The installment ranks the highest of any of the show's episodes with an average rating of 8.8 out of 10. It's easy to see why too, as "Never Let You Go" is "Chicago Med" at its most engaging and chaotic.
The episode sees the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center plunged into chaos when a disgruntled gunman creates a hostage situation with most of the show's main cast. Things just keep getting more and more complicated as the gunman's estranged partner, Lily, goes into labor, Lily's father is shot, and Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) discovers that his own dad has a hole in his heart and needs treatment. As a result, the episode is pretty much a non-stop, tense ride from beginning to end, and many fan-favorite characters get a chance to shine throughout its runtime.
While most episodes of "Chicago Med" will reliably play host to at least some drama, "Never Let You Go" marks one of those rare moments when the performances, tone, and twists all perfectly merge together to create a strikingly entertaining piece of television. It's no wonder why fans on IMDb consider it the best episode of "Chicago Med."
