Princess Leia And The Ewoks Star In Star Wars: Forces Of Destiny Short

Long before Jar Jar Binks, the Ewoks were the most divisive, family-friendly creatures in the Star Wars galaxy. And whether you love them or hate them, they're back again in the latest installment of Star Wars: Forces of Destiny.

The new short created by Disney centers on Princess Leia (voiced by Shelby Young) and is set during the events of Return of the Jedi. It follows Leia after her speeder crash, when she encounters the Ewoks on Endor. As with the other chapters in the Forces of Destiny series, it fills in some of the narrative gaps, and it's all officially canon. The episode also features narration from Lupita Nyong'o as Maz Kanata from The Force Awakens.

The first installment stars Daisy Ridley as Rey, while later episodes will feature Rogue One star Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, and Star Wars Rebels stars Tiya Sircar and Vanessa Marshall as Sabine Wren and Hera Syndulla. In some cases, the characters will interact despite being from different corners of the franchise.

All eight of the 2D animated shorts that will be packaged with eight more in the fall for a pair of TV specials on the Disney Channel.
