The Fantastic Beasts Character You Are Based On Your Zodiac Sign

With the "Harry Potter" franchise continuing to be as successful as ever, it was never likely that Warner Bros. would not continue to produce further movies. After all, the original films — all based on J. K. Rowling's novels — have grossed billions of dollars. The "Fantastic Beasts" series is the first spin-off, acting as a prequel to the main stories that first attracted fans. They tell the story of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as he is inadvertently drawn into the events surrounding the rise of the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp, Mads Mikkelsen).

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" and "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" have introduced fans to a cast of new characters and even a few old favorites returning to the screen — albeit in far younger forms. While fans are holding out for more in future films, there are already plenty of distinctive favorites with a wide variety of strengths and weaknesses.

The astrological signs of the zodiac shed light on our tendencies and likely behavior by assigning characteristics to  certain birth windows throughout the year. But if you overlap the characters of a series like "Fantastic Beasts," you can not only make a reasonable guess on which signs they'd likely be born under, but also engage in a fun exercise to break down which character you most closely resemble.

We've done exactly that, so take a look a look under your birth date below, and see which "Beast" you become.

Aries (March 21 – April 19): Gellert Grindelwald

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac. Ruled by Mars, it is a fire sign most commonly associated with those looking to strike out on their own. While many other signs promote working as part of a team, Aries is very much about the individual. Symbolized by the ram, people under this sign are typically full of energy and have a fiery temper. They can be impulsive, bold, and aggressive, making them good leaders as they can assert themselves and are highly motivated. But the passion and fierce personality that those born under this sign have can make them seem dark or even evil to some.

Gellert Grindelwald is the primary antagonist of the "Fantastic Beasts" series, and someone who is unafraid of conflict. In fact, the dark wizard is more than prepared to use force if required, something very in keeping with the Aries sign. He is also supremely confident in his own abilities and a very powerful magic user, perhaps with just one equal in the form of Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law). Grindelwald is also an enigmatic and charming person, who has been able to build up a cult-like following with other dark wizards. All of these are traits that could be considered essential to the ram zodiac.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Theseus Scamander

Taurus is a fixed earth sign ruled by Venus. Out of all the signs of the zodiac, Taurus has arguably the clearest traits of any sign, so much so that it's very easy to describe. Because it is an earth sign, Taurus is heavily associated with pragmatism, with those born under it viewing the world in a practical way. The other major Taurean trait is stubbornness. It's not unusual for Taureans to steadfastly stick to their guns and refuse to shift, like the bull that represents them. Yet, this makes them dependable and reliable colleagues who will get the most out of any work. Although that doesn't mean that they cannot also enjoy some of the finer things in life.

Theseus Scamander (Callum Turner) is the closest to the Taurus sign in the "Fantastic Beasts" films. Highly regarded by his peers, he was the older brother of Newt. During World War I, he fought bravely alongside Muggles and emerged as a war hero. He has shown he can be pragmatic when carrying out his work as an Auror and is determined to track down Grindelwald. His resolve saw him promoted to Head Auror for the Ministry of Magic, and he is headstrong and strong-willed like all Taureans, never breaking his own moral code.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Leta Lestrange

Gemini is a fluctuating sign best known for its changeable qualities. Ruled by Mercury, it is one of the three mutable signs known for producing open-minded, thoughtful individuals. While the dualistic nature of the sign has led many to assume Geminis are two-faced or deceitful, the truth is that they simply have multiple sides to their personalities. That doesn't necessarily make them bad people. However, Geminis are known to have something of a selfish streak, as well as a love for exploring the world and experiencing what it has to offer.

These are all traits that fit nicely with Leta Lestrange (Zoë Kravitz). The Slytherin witch showed that she puts her own interests first on several occasions, such as allowing Newt to take the blame after she released a Jarvey in Hogwarts. She portrayed herself as friendly and caring but deep down was suffering from the trauma of both her mother and brother's deaths. Leta was also somewhat unreliable as a friend, losing touch with Newt after they had been close friends. Yet, in the end, she was courageous and sacrificed herself to save both Newt and Theseus.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Queenie Goldstein

Ruled by the moon, Cancer is a cardinal water sign best described as being sensitive and emotional. This is similar to other water signs in the zodiac, although Cancers do have a tendency to be more assertive than Scorpios and Pisces. It's not uncommon for Cancers to be volatile, easily becoming over excited or losing their tempers. Represented by the crab, they can be deep and thoughtful, capable of showing an element of introspection. The sign also embodies ideas of motherly love, with a caring and nurturing nature towards those around them.

Out of all the characters in "Fantastic Beasts," the one who most closely matches up with Cancer is clearly Queenie Goldstein (Alison Sudol). On many occasions throughout the movies, Queenie has demonstrated her feminine qualities and compassion. This is exactly what initially causes Jacob to be attracted to her, as she takes good care of him while he is under her protection. Despite being kind and loving, she joined Grindelwald in the second film, with her fear of losing Jacob getting the better of her. This is a great example of the Cancerous trait of being too emotional, forcing Queenie into a situation she would not normally be involved in.

Leo (July 23 – August 22): Albus Dumbledore

There are many qualities typically linked with Leo; like the lion that epitomizes the sign, they are courageous, strong, and noble. Leos are righteous warriors with a deep passion and an adventurous streak. Those born under this sign will often stand out from the crowd, shining brightly. Leos are bundles of energy more than willing to meet danger head-on, and are almost always the center of attention. This can give them an ego, but it also makes them ideal for leadership roles, as others will often follow without question.

Albus Dumbledore (Law) is practically the dictionary definition of a Leo. The wizard is a Gryffindor and so is already closely connected with the lion, which is emblematic of the Hogwarts house. It makes sense then that he would be a Leo in terms of his abilities. He's powerful and capable, able to take down dangerous foes with ease. Yet, despite all of his virtuous qualities, Dumbledore has a penchant for the dramatic. During "Fantastic Beasts" he even has a strong ego and expects those around him to do what he wants. Of course, he is still a force for good and always tries to do what is right, like any true Leo would.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22): Nagini

A mutable earth sign ruled by Mercury, Virgo is a zodiac sign that embodies ideas of innocence and kindness. A typical Virgo will aim to avoid attention and remain humble. Strong communicators, they are modest and hard-working people with curious minds. This leads them to seek out the truth with a pragmatic, logical mind. Virgos generally make good strategists as they are able to take in lots of information and have a broad view of any situation. Those born under this sign are also quick thinkers, able to make decisions on the fly without dithering. Ultimately, Virgos are pure-hearted and tender, working hard to keep their loved ones safe.

Previously known as Lord Voldemort's loyal snake, Nagini (Claudia Kim) was actually a cursed witch in "Fantastic Beasts." Destined to turn into the evil beast that would serve the Dark Lord, Nagini was a shy and kind woman. Living a tragic life full of abuse, she showed her caring side when befriending Credence and helping to calm him. She also had a strong sense of morality, choosing to fight against Gellert Grindelwald when she saw just how evil he was. Nagini was a strong-willed witch, loyal to those she considered her friends and allies.

Libra (September 23 – October 22): Jacob Kowalski

Libra is a cardinal air zodiac sign ruled by the planet Venus. Lots of different traits can be used to describe those born under this sign, although they will often be simple, straightforward people. Quick-witted and charming, they have a warm personality and a loving quality to their character. People want to be around Libras, as they make wonderful company, putting smiles on the faces of those around them. The most important aspect of Libra, however, might be the sense of justice that it instills. All Libras want to seek out balance and harmony, striving for equality with every action.

Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler) is something of a rarity in the "Fantastic Beasts" films, as he isn't a witch or wizard. However, the No-Maj — or Muggle as they are known in the UK — plays a central part in the story despite his lack of magical ability. Somewhat bewildered for the majority of the first movie, Jacob is a friendly and pleasant fellow who quickly makes an impression on the other main characters. Like the zodiac sign, he is generous and reasonable, wanting to do what is right even when it might be harmful to him.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21): Credence Barebone

Many consider Scorpio, as well as Aries, to be the darkest sign of the zodiac. A fixed water sign, Scorpios are emotionally charged. This can lead to extreme behaviors such as obsessiveness and stubbornness or manifest aggression. Those born under this sign can also be highly secretive and prone to violence, explaining why the sign is often considered evil. The truth, however, is that Scorpios are not necessarily always bad. In fact, their deeply sensitive personality can make them intensely loyal and passionate. But it is never good to get on the bad side of a Scorpio, unless you want to feel their fiery wrath.

Credence Barebone (Ezra Miller) fits well with the Scorpio sign. He is misunderstood and feared because of his Obscurus form, although the boy underneath is a rather timid and quiet person. Forced to repress his magical ability for years, he has become troubled and has an understandable dark streak. When provoked into unleashing his raw power, Credence has shown he is capable of mass destruction that few others can match. Like other Scorpios, Credence has a talent for concealing his feelings and desires from others, something he had to do to survive.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21): Tina Goldstein

At its heart, the Sagittarius sign is all about adventure and optimism. Ruled by Jupiter, it is a mutable sign, and so those born under it are flexible and able to adapt to situations. That's useful because Sagittarians want to go out and explore the world, taking in everything it has to offer. Bursting with energy and seeing the good in everyone, they can seem like they never want to slow down or stop moving. Sagittarians are curious but independent, wanting to discover on their own terms, and are driven by an ambitious nature. They are also inherently honest, unwilling to deceive those close to them.

Like standard Sagittarians, Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston) is always truthful and sincere. She is also fair-minded and wants to do what is right, even if it gets her into trouble. Her streak of individuality also puts her in tricky situations, like when she goes against orders and fails to trust Newt at first. Tina is a skilled witch with a keen intellect, as well as being thoroughly persistent. Driven to succeed in her career, the witch showed a strong will to rise through the ranks, in spite of various setbacks.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19): Pickett

A cardinal earth sign ruled by Saturn, Capricorn is closely tied to physical qualities. That gives them a grounded personality, making them dependable and realistic. Capricorns are well aware of their abilities and what is possible in any given situation, so they don't have unrealistic expectations. They are hard-working and determined, so are perfect teammates to have on your side, as well as incredibly loyal friends. As you might expect from an earth sign, Capricorns have a strong connection with the natural world.

Of all the "Fantastic Beasts" characters, Pickett is perhaps the best choice for Capricorn. The Bowtruckle is an ever-present companion for Newt and someone the wizard can always turn to. He has proved a reliable partner and helped Newt escape several tricky situations by picking locks or providing a distraction. As a magical beast, Pickett fits with the Capricorn trait of being connected to nature. His ambition has also seen the little creature travel with Newt, rather than living in his suitcase with the rest of his kind.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18): Nicolas Flamel

Ruled by the planet Uranus, Aquarius is a fixed air sign that prizes uniqueness above all else. Those born under this sign will not conform to society and instead choose to strike out on their own distinctive path. Always wanting to do their own thing, Aquarians have a revolutionary view of the world and aim to make it a better place for everyone. Of course, they go about this as an individual rather than working with the rest of humanity, utilizing their rebellious nature and creativity.

These attributes almost perfectly describe Nicolas Flamel (Brontis Jodorowsky) from "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald." Flamel discovered the Sorcerer's Stone and created the Elixir of Life, marking him as a unique wizard and alchemist. No other person in the fictional history of the series has ever managed to do that, demonstrating his intelligence and individuality. He is kind and a good communicator, like other Aquarians, and willing to help out his friends. Flamel proved his bravery when he went to the aid of Paris and extinguished the flames that Grindelwald cast, choosing to fight against the side of evil.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20): Newt Scamander

Along with Scorpio and Cancer, Pisces is a water sign steeped in spirituality and emotion. Those born under this sign often struggle to reconcile the ideals they hold with the realism of the world. They are filled with compassion and empathy, able to understand the feelings of others and quickly read the room. Their sensitivity can lead to problems, especially when they are in intense situations, as they can get distracted by the sheer emotion of the occasion. Pisces are usually level-headed and remain neutral whenever possible, taking the good with the bad.

Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) is the primary antagonist of the "Fantastic Beasts" series, and a good fit for Pisces. He is warm-hearted and sympathetic, able to connect with magical beasts in a way no one else can. Few witches and wizards are able to care for creatures as well as Newt, even if he does struggle to communicate with other people despite his empathetic personality. He also refuses to take sides, only openly fighting against Grindelwald when forced he must. The Magizoologist hopes for a world where everyone understands strange beasts, endlessly engaged in a struggle against the existing prejudices in the world of magic.
