The Yennefer Relationship Fans Want To See More Of In The Witcher Season 3
Season 2 of "The Witcher" puts Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) out of her comfort zone. For the first time in her life since becoming a sorceress, Yennefer can't use her magic after The Battle of Sodden Hill. This is unfamiliar territory for the character, as she has never been without her Chaos. This new position makes Yennefer desperate, causing her to make decisions that put her at odds with those around her. Her on-and-off-again relationship with Geralt (Henry Cavill) is also in jeopardy. Yennefer and Geralt spend most of Season 1 loving and hurting each other, making them one of the most dramatic and romantic relationships of the show.
When the two reunite in Season 2, they share a touching moment before Yennefer goes too far and lures Ciri (Freya Allan) away from him. This is heartbreaking for shippers who root for Yennefer and Geralt to get back together. But while this is an important relationship for Yennefer, it isn't the only one. There is another key relationship for Yennefer that fans are also interested in seeing explored more.
Cahir and Yennefer have great chemistry
"The Witcher" is full of complex characters that live in shades of gray. Cahir of Nilfgaard (Eamon Farren) is no different. Originally identified as the Black Knight who attempts to steal Ciri from Cintra, Cahir is the main antagonist of Season 1. In Season 2, Cahir is captured and his character is given a lot more depth. He is no longer a mysterious figure, but a character with specific motivations and personhood. When Yennefer frees Cahir from his captivity, fans on Reddit couldn't help but notice their chemistry.
"The idea that he might join in with the group in some way is one of the more intriguing ideas for the next season or 2, and a huge part of that is how he and Yen got along. I love that she saved him (both with the axe and telling him to get on the horse). I loved how he tried to get her back on the boat when she went looking after Jaskier," posted u/Bliss-Smith.
Found family is a major theme of "The Witcher." Geralt gets Ciri through the Law of Surprise and finds that he cares for her above all else, proving that family doesn't have to start with blood relations. Yenenfer and Cahir's bond shows that Cahir may have potential for something more. "They were GREAT together! As you said, great chemistry, no personal space, lmao, Yen was the boss, Cahir showed his human side," agreed u/YekaHun.
Yennefer and Cahir are not necessarily romantic
Many fans have drawn a line in the sand in regards to Yennefer's romantic future. There is no doubt that she and Geralt are tied through destiny, and while Yennefer shares great chemistry with Cahir, that doesn't make it romantic. "I don't ship them, exactly – but I def ship him as an unexpected part of the found family," posted u/Bliss-Smith, and many other fans agreed. "They had a great dynamic but not in a romantic way," u/Emotional-Cucumber-4 made sure to specify.
Though it is hard to deny the interesting dynamic between the mage and the knight, fans do not want to endanger the romantic aspirations of Geralt and Yennefer. Cahir shows genuine growth in Season 2 of "The Witcher" and proves that he can care about other people. Though he is currently stuck with Fringilla (Mimi Ndiweni) in the grips of Emperor Emhyr (Bart Edwards), fans hope that he can join Geralt and Yennefer on the good side in the future.
