Lucy Liu Will Direct Luke Cage Season 2 Premiere
Lucy Liu will be a big part of Luke Cage in the second season, but not how you think.
Buzzfeed confirmed that Liu will direct the season 2 premiere of the Marvel series on Netflix. Last month, Liu was spotted on the set of Luke Cage in Harlem, which prompted speculation that the Elementary actor would be a guest star on the show.
Liu released a statement about her new gig. "What a thrill to collaborate with Marvel and Netflix, two industry titans, who paint our world with inspiring stories and beguiling characters," she said. "It is such an honor to work with such a passionate and fearless team."
Executive producer Jeph Loeb said he's really happy with Liu's take on the first episode of the season. "When you're dealing with a bulletproof man, it helps if you have a bulletproof director," Loeb said in a statement. "Lucy brings a keen eye, a superb sense of story, and an obvious love of actors. She is rocking Luke Cage 2."
As for the cast, Mustafa Shakir will play Bushmaster alter-ego John McIver and Gabrielle Dennis will play Dr. Tilda Johnson, otherwise known as Nightshade in the comics. The returning cast includes Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and Theo Rossi as Shades.
Season 2 is expected to hit Netflix sometime in 2018. Until then, check out easter eggs you totally missed in the first season.
