The Book Of Boba Fett Chapter 6 Finally Shows What Happened To Grogu During Order 66
Warning: Contains spoilers for "The Book of Boba Fett" Chapter 6
"The Book of Boba Fett" has taken a surprising detour away from the titular bounty hunter in recent episodes, as Chapter 5 is a sole adventure for Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) that picks up after the end of "The Mandalorian" Season 2. It explains more about the Darksaber's importance, as well as establishing more of the mythology around the planet Mandalore. Not only that, but Din even gets a brand new starfighter to travel through the galaxy in. Chapter 6, "From the Desert Comes a Stranger," goes down a similar route and mainly follows a set of fan-favorite characters.
Not only does Din return for a second time after pledging allegiance to Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison), but the episode puts a spotlight on Grogu as he trains with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) at the Jedi academy he's building. It's the best place for the little green youngling, since he doesn't have a great grip on his burgeoning Force powers. Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) is also on hand to help guide Luke in being a teacher.
But part of the mystery surrounding Grogu is that we don't know too much about his life before Din takes him under his Beskar-clad wing. Ahsoka explains that he grew up at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, but after that, his memories go dark. Many fans wonder how Grogu survives the Jedi slaughter during Order 66, and now we have another piece of the puzzle.
Grogu saw clones killing Jedi
The most recent episode of "The Book of Boba Fett" is mainly split between Luke training Grogu to get a better grip on his powers, and Din debating with Ahsoka about whether he should visit the youngling. Ahsoka points out that it's not a good idea because Jedi aren't meant to have emotional attachments, so the bond between Grogu and Din could overwhelm the adorable green one into throwing away his chance to become a full Jedi. It's a heartbreaking decision for Din to make, but ultimately, it's the right one.
Aside from that, Luke tries to help clear Grogu's mind, because he's not going to be able to do any of the Force-related tasks that Luke gives him if his head is clouded. In doing so, Luke refreshes Grogu's mind about being back at the Jedi Temple during Order 66, revealing a memory in which he watches clone troopers attack a trio of Jedi. Unfortunately, they're all gunned down while Grogu is hiding — although it's not exactly clear where he is while he watches the slaughter unfold.
It's a very brief scene, but it confirms that Grogu is in the Jedi Temple when Darth Sidious (Ian McDiarmid) executes Order 66 as a means of usurping the Jedi from their seat of power. But, this only gives us more questions, like who helps Grogu escape the temple? Is there another Jedi out there? If so, where did they go? Hopefully, "The Mandalorian" Season 3 has all these answers and more.
