The Murderer On CSI Who Was Never Captured
You'd be hard-pressed to find many television viewers who aren't familiar with "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation." The police procedural franchise, which revolves around investigators taking down an assortment of criminals, has been a regular fixture on small screens all around the world for over 20 years. Anyone who's ever spent time hopping through channels has probably encountered at least a few episodes at some point.
During the CBS crime series' original run, from 2000 until 2015, the show attracted millions of viewers and won six Emmy Awards (via Television Academy). This success spawned a franchise that continues to this day courtesy of shows like "CSI: Vegas."
Needless to say, a lot of criminals have passed through the "CSI" franchise throughout the years. For the most part, they're no match for the central law enforcement officers, and justice is served at the end of the day. However, the investigators aren't perfect, and there was one serial killer who managed to evade capture.
Sqweegel is still on the loose in the CSI universe
Sqweegel is a serial killer and vigilante who carries out his grisly missions while rocking a latex suit. He appeared in the 11th season of "CSI," in the aptly named fourth episode, "Sqweegel." Known for his impressive acrobatic and contortionist skills, Sqweegel primarily targets public figures with dark secrets, first giving them an opportunity to publicly confess before punishing them for their misdemeanors. After laying waste to his victims, the murderer escapes without getting caught, and it's unknown what happens to him. It's actually quite fitting considering that he's a mysterious, ambiguous, and utterly terrifying character. Horror can be most effective when viewers leave the experience feeling like the nightmare isn't over.
Fans of "CSI" haven't forgotten about Sqweegel either. In fact, some of them would love to see the latex criminal make a return to the franchise someday. "I can't believe they just never go back to him and he just disappears into the wind," wrote u/gayorsa in a Reddit post. Redditor u/moominlittlesocks agreed with this sentiment, stating that Sqweegel was "such a great character to never come back to."
