48% Of Better Call Saul Fans Agree This Is Their Favorite Original Character

Almost a decade after the gritty crime drama "Breaking Bad" ended its 5 season run on AMC, it's still widely regarded as one of the most perfect series to ever grace the airwaves. And once the "Breaking Bad" prequel "Better Call Saul" airs its finale in 2022, the show will likely claim a spot alongside its predecessor as an all-time great. In fact, some might argue that watching Jimmy McGill's (Bob Odenkirk) transformation into the slippery, yet surprisingly crafty, attorney Saul Goodman has proven every bit as thrilling, if not more so, than Walter White's (Bryan Cranston) ascension to becoming the king of New Mexico's meth-addled underworld.

Of course, one has to wonder if "Better Call Saul" could've been so successful had it not fronted some of the best-loved supporting players from the "Breaking Bad" narrative. But even as much as fans have delighted in finding out what Mike (Jonathan Banks), Gus (Giancarlo Esposito), and Hector (Mark Margolis) were up to before Walt walked into their lives, the new characters creator Vince Gilligan conjured for "Better Call Saul" have proven every bit as intriguing.

So much so that a few "Better Call Saul" diehards have taken to Reddit to see which of the new characters they love the best. And with 317 votes cast, they've crowned a most worthy new player as their favorite. Here's who they chose.

Better Call Saul fans have a lot of love for Kim Wexler

It'll likely come as no surprise to the "Better Call Saul" fandom that Kim Wexler (portrayed to absolute perfection by Rhea Seehorn) has been deemed the series' best original character. If you call yourself a "Better Call Saul" fan, you know it's hard to argue that outcome, as Kim is arguably the most intriguing character anywhere on television these days. And no, the tally in that Reddit poll wasn't even close, with Kim claiming 153 of the 317 votes cast. Coming in a distant second was cartel heavy Lalo Salamanca ("Hawkeye" breakout Tony Dalton), with the wily Nacho Varga (Michael Mando), Jimmy's troubled brother Chuck (Micheal McKean), and the self-centered attorney Howard Hamlin (Patrick Fabian) rounding out the top five.

Kim naturally earned her share of love in the comments section, too. The character was a no-brainer pick for u/FarOutSi, who posted, "I would definitely say Kim for this one." Redditor u/saint-cecilia clearly agreed. They praised the writers for taking their time with Kim's stunning transformation by commenting, "Kim is great ... I like the way they didn't go all danarys targaryen on her ... she's not crazy and life gradually kicked her ass. Well-written, believable and wish-she-lived-next-door-so-we-could-hang quality."

Meanwhile, in the estimation of u/CTKShadow, you really couldn't go wrong with any of the characters listed, though they specifically noted Kim (among others) as an all-timer in the "Breaking Bad'" universe. "Howard is the only one that isn't a completely fantastic character," they wrote. "IMO Lalo, Nacho, and Kim are only surpassed by Jesse as characters."

Even if we don't yet know what will become of Kim, there's little chance that status will change.
