Keith David Cast In Marvel's New Warriors

Keith David has been cast in Marvel's New Warriors, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

The series' showrunner Kevin Biegel tapped David, a former star on Enlisted, for the upcoming sort-of superhero series.

David is set for a recurring role as Ernest Vigman, a bitter municipal employee who clashes with a group of not-yet-heroes learning to control their newfound abilities "in a world where bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates" (via THR). The energetic young people include Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us) as quirky comic book character Doreen Green/Squirrel Girl and Derek Theler (Baby Daddy) as Craig Hollis/Mister Immortal.

David will next appear in Hulu's Future Man, following work on OWN's drama Greenleaf and Community. His most recognizable role, however, is Sergeant Major Donald Cody on Fox's Enlisted

New Warriors marks the first-ever live-action scripted comedy from Marvel. Jeph Loeb, Marvel head honcho, is set to executive produce.

Alongside Theler as Mister Immortal and Vayntrub as Squirrel Girl, David joins Jeremy Tardy (War Dogs, Dear White People) as Dwayne Taylor/Night Thrasher, Matthew Moy (2 Broke Girls) as Zachary Smith Jr./Microbe, Calum Worthy (Austin and Ally) as Robbie Baldwin/Speedball, and Kate Comer (Hello, My Name is Doris) as Deborah Fields/Debrii.

While we wait for more details on Marvel's New Warriors, find out why the actress who plays Squirrel Girl looks so familiar.
