Watch Deadpool Creator And Director React To The Honest Trailer
Have you ever wondered if the people behind the movies that get the Honest Trailers treatment ever watch those occasionally scathing YouTube videos? In the case of Deadpool, we know they absolutely did.
Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, director Tim Miller, and Colossus actor Stefan Kapicic sat down with Screen Junkies (who are also behind the Honest Trailers series) and provided a running commentary of the Honest Trailer for Deadpool. Of course, Ryan Reynolds actually contributed to that Honest Trailer, so it wasn't quite as hard on the movie as some other installments.
But the reaction video (above) is actually incredibly informative when it comes to addressing Deadpool rumors and theories. Miller and Liefeld discuss everything from the notorious leaked test footage (Miller insists it didn't come from him or Reynolds, but admits the hi-res version that followed came from his camp), to how bad the depiction of Deadpool was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, to whether or not Hugh Jackman was ever going to make a cameo.
Of course, Miller walked away from the sequel over the dreaded "creative differences" with Reynolds, which is something Miller also opens about. When that news first broke, it was rumored that Miller wanted Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) to play Cable, but Miller said that wasn't the case. "I never met Kyle Chandler," he said. "I had somebody for Cable who would've been great, but it was not Kyle Chandler."
David Leitch (Atomic Blonde) is directing the upcoming Deadpool 2 and Josh Brolin is playing Cable. Filming is currently underway and the movie is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2018. Until then, watch the new Honest Trailer for Ghost in the Shell.
