Armie Hammer Falls In Love In Call Me By Your Name Trailer
Armie Hammer takes a dramatic turn in the trailer for the upcoming romantic drama Call Me By Your Name. In the film, Hammer plays Oliver, an American professor who travels to northern Italy in the summer of 1983.
Oliver stays with the family of Elio (Timothee Chalamet), a precocious 17-year-old who spends his days reading books, transcribing music, and swimming, all alongside his friend and crush Marzia (Esther Garrel). As the trailer shows, Elio does not take well to Oliver at first. "Just watch, this is how he'll say goodbye to us when the time comes," he says, before adopting Oliver's drawl. "Later."
Elio is very close to his father (Michael Stuhlbarg), a professor studying Greco-Roman culture, as well as his mother Annella (Amira Casar), a translator, with both pushing him to absorb the high culture that surrounds him. While Elio is smart and worldly in some senses, he points out that he is inexperienced in matters of love. "I only know how little I know about the things that matter," he says.
Over the course of the summer, Elio comes to learn about awakening desire, eventually developing a relationship with Oliver. "Call me by your name and I'll call you by mine," Oliver says to him at the end of the trailer.
Call Me By Your Name currently sits at a 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes after being screened at multiple film festivals. The movie is directed by Luca Guadagnino (A Bigger Splash) based on a script from James Ivory (A Room with a View), who was working off the novel from Andre Aciman. The film, which also features original music from Sufjan Stevens, will hit select theaters on Nov. 24; for now, see some of the other movies that will blow you away this year.
