How Old Is Catwoman In The Batman?
"The Batman" has impressed critics by breaking away from the standard superhero movie mold and, instead, embracing a gritty, crime thriller approach. While not everyone was sold on the new iterations of the Riddler (Paul Dano) or Bruce Wayne/Batman (Robert Pattinson), many critics and fans have singled out Zoë Kravitz's performance as Selina Kyle/Catwoman as a highlight of the film.
Kravitz first voiced the femme fatale in "The Lego Batman Movie" in 2017 and attempted to audition for the role in 2012. She is the latest in a long line of stars to portray the morally ambiguous character and is the first to incorporate the character's bisexuality on screen.
Although "The Batman" takes place early on in both the titular character and Catwoman's crime-fighting careers, this is only the beginning: two sequels are set to follow as well as two TV shows on HBO. With this in mind, some may be wondering how old the characters are.
Catwoman is presumably around Batman's age
With so many variations of Selina Kyle/Catwoman since her first appearance in the comics in the 1940s, it's easy to lose track of her age and what's canon and what isn't as the Batman world continues to expand.
While "The Batman" never explicitly states how old Catwoman is, there are enough context clues for viewers to make an educated guess. Director Matt Reeves explained to The Hollywood Reporter that he wrote Bruce Wayne/Batman to be "around 30 years old" as the character is still in the learning phases of his superhero transformation.
As his love interest and partner in crime, we can assume that Catwoman is around the same age. This would make sense as Zoë Kravitz is 33 years old, while Robert Pattinson is 35, reasonably placing both characters in their early 30s. It's unclear whether or not this will be addressed in any of the upcoming sequels, but for now, it's a logical explanation.
