The 9-1-1 Character You Are Based On Your Zodiac Sign
First responders put their lives on the line every day for the good of their communities, often with little or no recognition. But the first responders of "9-1-1" take heroism to the next level, exposing themselves to insane scenarios as action heroes in the wackadoo Murphyverse. In the world of "9-1-1," firefighters, EMTs, and 911 call center operators regularly navigate worst-case scenarios both comical and borderline apocalyptic, coolly handling tsunamis, elevator floods, and angry alpacas. And they do it all while putting their own personal drama on hold.
While not everyone has what it takes to bravely run into a burning building or rappel down an elevator shaft, "9-1-1" shows us that there are many ways to be a hero — from that soothing voice on the other end of the emergency call to the family members who offer support to rescue workers.
Sure, we'd all like to think that if put in a "dare to be great" situation, we'd step up and help. But what if how well we perform under pressure is predetermined? To find out if you'd be cut out for the 118, read on and learn which "9-1-1" character you are closest to in personality and character, based on your zodiac sign.
Aquarius: Albert Han
If your birthday falls between January 20 and February 18, your "9-1-1" character is everybody's favorite kid brother, Albert Han. Played by a surprisingly un-Australian-sounding John Harlan Kim, Albert Han is Chimney's baby bro. Like all good Aquarians, Albert is spontaneous and something of a rebel, taking off halfway around the world on a whim to get away from the guys' overbearing dad. In fact, Albert is so spontaneous that he doesn't think twice about showing up on the doorstep of the brother he has never met IRL with no notice.
As an Aquarius, Albert can be a bit of a handful, freewheelingly gate crashing his brother's happy life and couch surfing with little regard for how Chimney (Kenneth Choi) and Maddie's (Jennifer Love Hewitt) life will be disrupted. Water-bearer Aquarius may be a bit annoying at times, but like Albert, they're oozing with charm, easily making friends everywhere they go thanks to their carefree spirits and good-natured personalities. Aquarians like Albert can have a hard time finding their bearings thanks to their capacity for overthinking, but eventually, they land on their feet. Like many of his fellow water-bearers, Albert loves helping others and loathes monotony, which is why it should come as no surprise that he ends up wearing bunker gear for the LAFD.
Pisces: Abby Clark
"9-1-1" fans with a Pisces birthday from February 19 to March 20 identify with emergency call center operator Abby Clark (Connie Britton). Pisces are notoriously empathetic and emotionally driven, a trait that leads Abby to wonder what happens to callers after the call ends. As a Pisces, Abby is trustworthy, calmly guiding callers through often-terrifying situations with compassion and sensitivity. And like many Pisces, her powerful sense of intuition helps her make difficult judgment calls under pressure, whether she's helping save a child during a home invasion or protecting a woman from her abuser.
Despite their many positive traits, Pisces can be dangerously prideful. For Abby, this meant carrying the burden of her dying mother's care alone for far too long while keeping others at arm's length. A Pisces will often place others before themselves, sometimes until they reach a breaking point. After spending so much time sacrificing her own self-care for her mother and job, Abby took on the emotional challenge of living with a first responder with hardly a second thought, and it all eventually became too much for her. Unfortunately for Buck, Pisces also have a habit of ghosting others when it all gets too intense. This stone-cold ability to move on left the hunky firefighter with a broken heart when Abby took off for Ireland and never came back, leaving him pining for her in her abandoned apartment for far too long.
Aries: Athena Grant
Are you an Aries born between March 21 and April 19? It's time to invest in a pair of badass aviator sunglasses, because the "9-1-1" character you identify with most is police officer Athena Grant (Angela Bassett). Like the goddess she shares a name with, Athena embodies power and wisdom. Athena's confidence and no-nonsense approach to policing as well as her personal life make her one of the best first responders in Los Angeles and one of the best characters on television. But one of Athena's most defining Aries characteristics is her determination.
It was Athena's bold streak that originally led her to join the LAPD during the department's drive to recruit up to 20 percent female officers. Her willingness to take on a challenge and follow it through to completion leads to the conviction of her fiance's killer. Like Athena, impulsive rams must watch that their independent streak doesn't veer toward recklessness, as when the intrepid officer investigated serial rapist Jeffrey Hudson without any backup and barely made it out alive.
Taurus: Karen Wilson
If you're a Taurus born between April 20 and May 20, the "9-1-1" character you identify with most is Hen's wife and soulmate, Karen Wilson (Tracie Thoms). Karen is the rock of her family, as well as a reminder that every hero who puts his or her life on the line needs a good support system. With her grounded, earthy spirit, Karen is the soft place for her family to land time and time again, and her relationship with Hen is based on a deep and abiding love that begins and ends with friendship, trust, and loyalty. It's also a great example of LGBTQ representation.
Despite Karen's keen intellect and background as a rocket scientist, she has a natural aptitude for creating a healthy home filled with warmth and love, and she enjoys her life as a stay-at-home mother for the couple's two kids. As a Taurus, Karen is incredibly grounded, a trait that allows her to work through Hen's infidelity and accept having to let go of the pair's foster child. Her thoughtful Tauran perspective and insight are a gift to everyone around her.
Gemini: Josh Russo
"9-1-1" fans with a birthday that falls between May 21 and June 21 identify with everyone's favorite co-worker, Gemini call center operator Josh Russo (Bryan Safi). Settling into a new job can be tough, as Maddie Buckley learns when she starts working at the 9-1-1 call center, but having someone like Josh on your side can make the workday go a heckuva lot smoother. Geminis like Josh have one of the wittiest zodiac signs and tend to use humor as a shield against everything life has to throw at them.
Although Josh's sarcasm and dry, savage humor can come across as off-putting to some, those who get his vibe live for Tweet-worthy shade and snarky hot takes. Like all Geminis, Josh has a dual and sometimes mercurial nature. Despite his rough edges, Josh is always genuine and a good friend who puts others first time and time again. As a Gemini, Josh can be proud to a fault, as when he refuses to report his attackers after he is assaulted. But his compassionate spirit and quirky perspective make him a powerful ally to anyone on the other end of the 9-1-1 call.
Cancer: Christopher Diaz
If you blow out your birthday candles between June 21 and July 22, you're in good company among sensitive crabs like Eddie's adorable son Chris Diaz (Gavin McHugh). Christopher Diaz may be a little dude, but he is one of the most insightful characters in "9-1-1." Cancers are some of the coolest folks to hang with, and everyone loves spending time with Chris, from his best bud and Dad Eddie to his good pal and video game partner, Buck. A generally positive guy, Chris doesn't let his cerebral palsy slow him down, even taking up skateboarding with the help of his friends and family in an episode that was praised for its disability representation by critics and fans.
As a Cancer, Chris has a natural ability to pick up on others' emotions. While this quality can make him intuitive and compassionate, a shrewd crab like Chris can use it for leverage, as when the sneaky youth tried to pump his dad Eddie for information on a date. But like all Cancers, his motivations tend to come from a good place rather than a purely manipulative one, and Chris is usually looking out for the people he loves.
Leo: Buck
If your big annual birthday bash falls between July 23 and August 22, your "9-1-1" zodiac icon is Evan Buckley (AKA Buck). With his outsized personality, free spirit, and adventure-seeking ways, Buck embodies the fiery spirit of the lion in almost every way. Like most Leos, the charming Buck is frequently surrounded by friends and enjoys basking in attention. Sometimes, his free-wheeling personality and love of thrills can take him exactly where he needs to be, as when his world travels eventually landed him as a firefighter in L.A. But it can also get him into trouble, like when he nearly threw away his firefighting career after being caught getting his freak on with a rescued woman on the roof of the firehouse.
But Buck isn't all boyish hijinks and misadventures. At his core, he is warm, sensitive, and affectionate, bonding with Abby when she was going through a tough time caring for her mother. Leos also have an unfortunate tendency to be overly sensitive and get caught up in their feelings, living there for far too long, something Buck has made an Olympic sport between brooding over Abby and his post-firetruck accident health issues. But when he's not going full emo, Buck can be a pretty chill guy, which is exactly why he and Eddie are besties.
Virgo: Eddie Diaz
If your astrological sign is Virgo (August 22 through September 22), your "9-1-1" zodiac hero is hunky superdad Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz. Eddie could change his name to Joe, because he is the ultimate Real American Hero, from his heroism as an army medic in Afghanistan to his devotion to his family while risking his life on the regular as a firefighter. As a Virgo, Eddie is the first in line for responsibility and always keeps his word, driven by a powerful sense of duty to his country, community, and family. But despite having earned any praise that comes his way, Eddie is always humble and well-intentioned.
Perhaps owing to their sense of responsibility for others, Virgos have a tendency to worry and overthink, and Eddie is no exception. During the aftermath of the tsunami and losing the mother of Chris, Eddie's internalization of his trauma and anxiety becomes toxic, leading to an unhealthy dependence on cage fighting at one point. But eventually, he begins to process his trauma and work through many of his challenges through counseling and other, healthier outlets.
Libra: Howard "Chimney" Han
"9-1-1" fans who unwrap their birthday gifts between September 22 and October 23 most relate to good-spirited firefighter/paramedic Howie Han (AKA Chimney). The scales of the zodiac, Librans provide much-needed balance in their lives and communities, similar to how Chimney (Kenneth Choi) brings balance to the 118. Libras are rarely alone, and Chimney tends to develop deep bonds everywhere he goes, from his deep connection with Maddie to his best friend, Hen. Libras have to weigh all of the facts on the table before they make a decision, which can lead to indecisiveness at times. For Howie, this indecisiveness led him to a string of dead-end jobs before he eventually landed on becoming a paramedic.
Good-natured Libras are incredibly generous and sincere, making them powerful allies and reliable friends willing to put everything on the line for those they love, even if it means crossing the country on an epic journey like Chim does for Maddie. They're also chill enough to handle anything life throws at them with a sense of humor, even if it means laughing about a death-defying injury like Chimney does when he celebrates his return to work with a rebar-piked Chimney head cake.
Scorpio: Maddie
If you're a Scorpio celebrating your big day between October 23 and November 21, your "9-1-1" zodiac buddy is call center pro Maddie Buckley (Jennifer Love Hewitt). Scorpion Maddie is the living embodiment of the phrase "still waters run deep." Despite living with tremendous pain and trauma, Maddie manages to push it all below the surface, exuding a calm and collected facade as she focuses on giving everything she can to help others.
As a Scorpio, Maddie has a strong sense of intuition that leads her to save a domestic abuse victim despite putting her own life and career in jeopardy to do so. She has weathered many difficulties in her life, but continues to push forward and persevere no matter how difficult things get. Like most Scorpions, Maddie is capable of striking hard when pushed to her limit, killing her abusive ex-husband in self-defense and leading the fight against terrorists who take over the call center.
If you or someone you know is dealing with domestic abuse, you can call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1−800−799−7233. You can also find more information, resources, and support at their website.
Sagittarius: Hen Wilson
With birthdays falling between November 22 and December 21, Sagittarians like paramedic firefighter Henrietta "Hen" Wilson (Aisha Hinds) are skilled professionals who make an excellent addition to any workplace. The archer of the zodiac, Sages like Hen are great at speaking truth to power and landing reality bombs when the world needs to hear them, as when she gives her emotional speech calling out the 118 for dismissing her as a "diversity hire" when she first joins the house. The outspoken Sag is not afraid to be argumentative when no one else is, but her push-back always comes from a place of optimism because she believes in the vision of how things should be and can be.
Despite her spiritedness, Hen is one of the kindest, friendliest souls at the 118 and is well-liked and valued by the other members of her house. Like most Sagittarians, Hen is also committed to personal and professional growth, a path that leads her from pharmaceutical sales to a career as an EMT and eventually to medical school. With good friends like Chim, Athena, and her ride-or-die Karen, Hen knows she can accomplish anything to which she puts her mind.
Capricorn: Bobby
Are you a Capricorn? Your "9-1-1" zodiac character is 118 Fire Captain Robert "Bobby" Nash (Peter Krause). As a Capricorn, Bobby is always the adult in the room, making him a perfect Papa Bear for the 118. While Cap can seem a little rigid to newcomers, as Buck would learn after nearly blowing his chance at the station, underneath Bobby's tough exterior is a kind spirit. Hardworking and duty-bound, Bobby internalizes his Captain role as a key part of his identity, just as his true love Athena does with her police officer job.
Bobby tends to keep to himself and watch the 118's hijinks from an amused distance — at home, however, he readily opens up to his wise and understanding partner Athena. Like all Capricorns, Cap has to remain wary that he doesn't become too caught up in his own feelings of melancholy and guilt. A natural loner, Bobby eventually learns he is better with both families close to him: the Grant-Nashes, and the 118.
