Yellowstone's Piper Perabo Confirms What We Suspected About Season 5

Created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, "Yellowstone" has become a must-watch staple for over nine million viewers — according to the ratings for the show's Season 4 finale (via Deadline). The series focuses on John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and his family, who own the largest ranch in Montana, the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, making it subject to issues with land developers as well as the neighboring Indian reservation.

In Season 4, "Yellowstone" introduced Summer Higgins (Piper Perabo), an animal rights activist who ends up in jail at John's request after throwing a rock at John's son Kayce (Luke Grimes) during a demonstration. Despite John wanting her in jail, it's implied that he and Summer ended up in bed together that night when Beth finds them together the next morning.

In an interview on the 28th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet, Perabo gave fans a tease of what they can expect from her character moving into the upcoming 5th season (via Yahoo Life).

Perabo thinks a romance is on the horizon

Despite the introduction of Piper Perabo's character leading to a night with John Dutton, the interactions between the two have since been largely platonic. Depending on fans' opinions of Summer Higgins, the lack of romance could be either a relief or an annoying lack of development. Luckily for those curious, Perabo has an answer as to where the storyline between Summer and John may go in Season 5.

Perabo told People and Entertainment Weekly, "The love story is kicking into gear on 'Yellowstone.' I know a lot of people watch it for the cowboys and the ranch, but I watch it for the love story. We're turning up the heat. It's been a hard couple of years, let's turn up the heat for a minute."

Well, there we have it — it looks like a romance is indeed blossoming between Summer and John. We can't wait to see how their storyline plays out when the new season premieres later this year.
