Adam Sandler Sings In The Meyerowitz Stories Teaser Trailer

Get ready for a different kind of Adam Sandler movie. Netflix has released a teaser trailer for The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected), the upcoming dramedy that received rave reviews when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this summer.

The Meyerowitz Stories follows three adult siblings, Danny (Sandler), Matthew (Ben Stiller), and Jean (Elizabeth Marvel), as they gather together to celebrate the life of their artist father Harold (Dustin Hoffman). While at his commemoration, they have to figure out how to navigate their difficult relationships with him and with each other.

The teaser trailer kicks off with Sandler's Danny sitting at a piano. "You remember that song I wrote about that guy who worked at your studio who you never remembered his name?" he says, before he starts to sing. The song, which carries through the remainder of the trailer, deals with a man named Byron, who Harold called Myron.

"Three times you called him Myron, til you heard the other guy say it with a B," Danny sings, as his father walks in to join him. "Byron. What does it matter if you look him in the eye. Say it with confidence and look him in the eye. Don't look at your shoes, don't look at the sky. Say it with confidence and look him in the eye. Myron."

As Danny sings, the trailer intercuts quotes from the movie's stellar reviews, along with clips from the film, featuring Harold getting angry and smashing a pool stick, Matthew slapping Danny, and all three of the siblings running out of what appears to be a hospital carrying a cane.

Emma Thopmson, Grace Van Patten, Candice Bergen, Rebecca Miller, Judd Hirsch, Adam Driver, Michael Chernus, Gayle Rankin, and Sigourney Weaver also star in The Meyerowitz Stories, which was written and directed by The Squid and the Whale's Noah Baumbach. The movie will premiere on Netflix and in select theaters on Oct. 13. While we wait for the film to be released, see some upcoming originals you didn't know the streamer was working on.
