Does Morbius Have A Post-Credits Scene?
Spoilers ahead for "Morbius" and "Spider-Man: No Way Home"
After the success of Tom Hardy's "Venom" films, Sony is continuing to expand its "Spider-Man" universe with "Morbius." The upcoming film stars Jared Leto, who previously played The Joker in "Suicide Squad." "Morbius," which will be the actor's first appearance in a Marvel project, will follow the titular doctor as he attempts to cure a rare blood disease that has afflicted him his entire life. While following through with an experimental cure, Morbius transforms himself into a superpowered living vampire.
Audiences have been patiently waiting to see "Morbius" ever since the first trailer dropped in 2020. The first look at the film teased the inclusion of Michael Keaton's Adrian Toomes, a villain from "Spider-Man: Homecoming," while the final trailer confirmed that Leto's Marvel debut takes place in the same universe as the "Venom" films.
Post-credits scenes are a superhero film staple, frequently teasing what audiences can expect next. Seeing as "Morbius" is set to answer questions about the character's place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Sony's "Spider-Man" Universe, audiences can't help but wonder if Leto's latest film will feature a stinger after the credits.
"Morbius" has suffered numerous delays over the last two years, but the film is finally set to release on April 1. After such a long wait, we now know if audiences should stick around a bit longer after the film calls curtains.
Morbius has a post-credits scene that answers a multiverse-sized question
Typical for a comic book film, "Morbius" will feature a post-credits scene that bridges the film's continuity with the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. Director Daniel Espinosa recently held a Twitter Q&A with CinemaBlend where he confirmed that Michael Keaton's Adrian Toomes will return as the Vulture after the credits finish rolling. How exactly did Toomes, who is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, enter Sony's universe of "Spider-Man" characters?
"At the end of 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage' and 'Spider-Man: No Way Home', and in 'No Way Home' itself, it is clearly established that it is possible for characters to transfer from one Multiverse to another," Espinosa tweeted. This eventually led to Espinosa pointing out how Toomes' Vulture suit in the post-credits scene is different from the one he was last seen in: "If you look closely, you will see it is not quite the same suit as 'Homecoming,”' he explained. "He is a resourceful guy."
By the looks of it, the "Morbius" post-credits scene is setting up a potential Sinister Six-focused film, with the director confirming to the outlet that "[Vulture] is recruiting teammates and he has enticed [Morbius] already. So it sure looks like a start."
While there are a lot of unanswered questions about "Morbius" and the multiverse, it's good to know that audiences will have a reason to stay beyond the credits to see what's next for Sony's Living Vampire and the Vulture.
