The Minor Moon Knight Character That Fans Can't Help But Hate
"Moon Knight" is here, bringing new heroes and villains into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At the forefront of this series is Steven Grant, a.k.a. Marc Spector, a.k.a. Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac), who initially comes across as a mild-mannered gift shop worker. However, he soon discovers that there are points in time when he relinquishes his body to Marc Spector, a mercenary with an obtuse plan surrounding Egyptology. Of course, Steven's life isn't made easier given the fact he has some antagonists in his life who seem destined to cause him problems.
No, we're not talking about Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke), although he seems like a pretty evil chap, all things considered. The villain a lot of fans have come to hate after the first episode is Steven's coworker, Donna (Lucy Thackeray). She was only in a couple of scenes, but during her short time in the first episode, she managed to leave quite the impression if Reddit is anything to go off of.
Many fans thought Donna was downright unpleasant
When we're introduced to Donna in the first episode of "Moon Knight," she pulls Steven away from giving interesting information to a little girl. She insists that since he isn't a tour guide, he shouldn't be the one providing such details and that he should merely stay at his post and sell snacks. There's also the little matter that she frequently refers to him as "Stevie," even though he reminds her that he prefers to be called "Steven."
If there's one thing Redditors can't stand, it's a nosy micro-manager, and it's earned Donna quite a bit of disdain on Reddit threads discussing the first episode of "Moon Knight." Redditor u/NomadPrime wrote, "The manager was just mean af Lol. This isn't the first time the heroes had to deal with pesky or annoying authority figures ... but they were at least funny in their scenes. She was just plain unpleasant to Steven." Others correlated her actions and words to Kevin Feige's comments that the show would be brutal, saying, "When they said Moon Knight was going to be brutal, they weren't just talking about the action scenes."
Still, there were some who understood where she was coming from: "Late all the time, disappears for days, scatter brained when he is there. I can get why she's mean to him, just surprised he still has a job really." No matter which side of the Donna argument you fall in, plenty of people have worked with a "Donna" in the past, and her attitude may have hit too close to home for some.
