Super Troopers 2 Teaser Trailer Reveals New Highway Hijinks
Even though it's been more than 15 years since the original, the Super Troopers haven't grown up a bit.
Fox Searchlight released the first teaser trailer for the long-awaited Super Troopers 2, and it confirms that some things never change (thankfully). Written and directed by Jay Chandrasekhar with his Broken Lizard pals, the sequel finds the whole gang of Vermont state troopers in a quarrel with Canada over the borderline. They set up a new Highway Patrol station in the disputed area, and they do it in their own distinct way.
Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, Erik Stolhanke, Marisa Coughlan, and Brian Cox are all back for the sequel, along with Rob Lowe, Emmanuelle Chriqui, and Lynda Carter.
The sequel came about thanks to a 30-day crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo that attracted more than 50,000 donors. The Broken Lizard team raised $4.4 million for the movie, making it one of the most successful crowdfunding campaigns for a film. The $2 million goal set by Fox Searchlight only took 26 hours to reach, while the first movie was made for just $1.2 million and grossed $23 million worldwide.
Super Troopers 2 will arrive on an appropriate date: April 20, 2018. While we wait, check out more movies that will blow everyone away next year.
