The Major Crimes Of Grindelwald Character Who Vanished From Fantastic Beasts 3
The following article contains spoilers for "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore."
Another "Fantastic Beasts" film means it's another opportunity to explore the lore of the Wizarding World once more. This time around, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) receives even more attention as audiences get a better glimpse into his previous relationship with Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen). Of course, Dumbledore isn't the only familiar face as viewers once again meet Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and his fellow compatriots, who work alongside Dumbledore to prevent Grindelwald from ascending to power and waging an all-out war between wizards and muggles.
Unfortunately for some fans, not everyone from the franchise makes a return. Most notably, Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston) is absent for much of the film's proceedings. She only pops in briefly at the very end to greet Newt. But she at least gets somewhat of an explanation, as it's stated she's working for the American Auror office. There's one character from a previous "Fantastic Beasts" installment who doesn't receive as much as a name-drop, and it's bugging some fans.
Where's Nagini?
"Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" introduced audiences to the human form of Nagini (Claudia Kim), a shapeshifter who's exploited at a magical circus for her ability to transform into a snake. Her blood curse will eventually make the transformation permanent. As "Harry Potter" fans know all too well, she'll become the companion and eventual Horcrux for Lord Voldemort. For the time being, she befriends Credence (Ezra Miller), and while one would assume she would have a role to play in the remainder of the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise, she's not seen or heard from at all in "The Secrets of Dumbledore."
Tina at least receives an explanation for why she isn't involved in the latest adventure, but no one even mentions Nagini's name. It's possible she's already turned into a snake permanently, but there's no confirmation that's the case. For now, fans can't help but feel a little put out by her absence, as Redditor u/fermata125 started a thread about her disappearance, writing, "I enjoyed Claudia Kim's performance and am extremely fascinated by Nagini's origin story so I was looking forward to this a lot and feel a bit let down." Redditor u/SeerPumpkin echoed those sentiments, "I loved Nagini so I can't help but feel a bit disappointed she isn't in FB3 but it is what it is."
It's possible she could return for "Fantastic Beasts 4" if that sequel receives a green light, but considering the character's importance to future "Harry Potter" stories, it's curious she wouldn't be utilized in the latest installment.
