What Is The Song In The Thor: Love And Thunder Trailer?

The new teaser trailer for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe installment "Thor: Love and Thunder" — directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, and Christian Bale — is here, and some fans are poring over every detail and clue they can to get an idea of what surprises the film might have in store. Some other fans, probably the ones on the younger side, are also no doubt hung up on those awesome guitar riffs and wailing high-pitched vocals featured so prominently in the trailer.

Much like "Thor: Ragnarok" gave some audiences (and reportedly a few Marvel executives) their first taste of Led Zeppelin thanks to the use of the band's iconic "Immigrant Song," "Love and Thunder" is introducing many to another hard rock classic. If you're among those looking for information on this infectious tune, you're in luck, because you don't have to travel to Asgard or any other far-flung mythological locales in order to track it down.

Thor has entered his Guns N' Roses phase

As any classic rock fan knows, those immediately identifiable opening guitar strains signify the beginning of "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses, off of their landmark 1987 debut album, "Appetite for Destruction." In addition to being a staple of classic rock radio, the song has been used countless times in film and television. One may recall hearing it as the entrance music for Randy "The Ram" Ramzinki (Mickey Rourke) in the climactic final sequence of the 2008 film "The Wrestler," just to name one example.

That being said, it's safe to assume that the song has now reached yet another plateau of popularity and exposure thanks to being so prominently featured in the new teaser trailer for "Thor: Love and Thunder," introducing a whole new generation to the music of Guns N' Roses. Will the song be as prominent in the film itself, perhaps used as memorably as "Immigrant Song" is in "Thor: Ragnarok?" Fans will have to wait until the film comes out on July 8th, 2022, to see, and hear, for themselves.
