Abbott Elementary Fans Think This Is The Best Comic Duo
"Abbott Elementary" has taken the TV-viewing world by storm. The show just finished its first season, and it quickly became one of the most-watched and most beloved shows of the 2022 season. And it's easy to see why. The sitcom expertly blends humor with heart with a format that's both familiar yet refreshing. It checks all of the boxes one could want out of an instantly binge-able series, but at the end of the day, the show's simply funny.
There are ample humorous moments throughout the first season, like when Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter) referred to "Pandora's Box" as "Panera's Box." That's not even getting into the time Janine (Quinta Brunson) referred to Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph) as "Mom." In a single season, "Abbott Elementary" has provided plenty of instantly hilarious moments where every fan anxiously counts the days until we get Season 2 (via Newsweek). And fans are already hoping we see more of the best comedic duo on the series to provide plenty more laughs.
Fans love Ava and Mr. Johnson
All of the characters on "Abbott Elementary" have gotten a chance to shine throughout the first season, but based on one Reddit thread, it would appear the two MVPs of the season are Ava (Janelle James) and Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis). The two don't exactly get a ton of screentime together, but that simply spreads out the love, as the two steal every scene they're in.
Redditor u/cnotethegoat123 started a thread to praise the "best comedic duo on t.v. right now" along with pictures of Ava and Mr. Johnson. Many other people appeared to be in agreement, including one fan who's taking their fandom into real life: "Janelle has a stand up show coming up in Los Angles. I'm definitely tryna be there. Really wanna pull up in a 'Abbott Step' t-shirt." This is in reference to Episode 9, when Ava takes over Janine's step class.
And while Mr. Johnson may not have been a series regular, that could very well change going into Season 2 and beyond if the reaction he's garnered is any indication. He's had numerous opportunities to show off his sense of humor, such as when he labeled the circuit breaker box with Boyz II Men songs. If anything, the Reddit thread is a prime showcase for why you need to watch "Abbott Elementary" as soon as possible if you haven't already.
